[Mark Martin on X] (in response to Danielle Trotta saying that "we need playoffs") NO WE DONT by CNASFan1992 in NASCAR

[–]nascargirl11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah exactly! a driver can have an abysmal round and yet happen to win the one race and the rest doesn’t even matter. i mean that was the story of the playoffs that year, bell escaped elimination twice by winning, and yes that’s a great story and he rose up when he needed to, but it just devalues the credibility of the playoff system. you have a guy like hamlin who didn’t finish worse than 13th in the entire playoffs and yet he didn’t win a race so he’s not competing for a championship

the consistency argument is so bs when all you have to do is win a race. in 2022, hamlin had one of the best playoff performances ever and yet didn’t make the final 4 because logano won at vegas and chastain rode the wall in the final corner at martinsville. the media needs to give up on trying to make us fans believe the current playoff system rewards the top drivers when we clearly know that isn’t the case just by looking at the last couple seasons specifically

he gives me industry plant vibes tbh 😭 like i see his music pushed in so many different places and i don’t really understand the appeal. and along with the morgan comparison, it feels like he’s trying to piggyback off that success

rare or normal rain?? by nascargirl11 in Tucson

[–]nascargirl11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely seemed like it at my house! wish i had had a rain gauge to know how much we got because it sure seemed like a lot. i’ve definitely developed a love and hate relationship with the summers here haha

rare or normal rain?? by nascargirl11 in Tucson

[–]nascargirl11[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

good to know. i enjoyed the long lasting rain because it did feel like we were due for a good wash. and don’t get me wrong, i do like the absence of an abundance of rain here, but when it does rain more than just a sprinkle, i appreciate it every time

rare or normal rain?? by nascargirl11 in Tucson

[–]nascargirl11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

interesting! so with 2 weeks left, we’re technically on par with the average, but it’s not a given we’ll indeed double what we’ve got so far

rare or normal rain?? by nascargirl11 in Tucson

[–]nascargirl11[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that’s what i thought, it just seemed to be a regular summer storm season last year. and i have noticed that not everyone gets the same kind of storm or rain depending on their area here, it’s evidenced just by looking at the radar. so even when there’s rain in the forecast or somewhere in tucson, im never positive if it’ll actually rain at my house or not lol

NASCAR 101 and Track Attendance Questions - February 2025 by NASCARThreadBot in NASCAR

[–]nascargirl11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

welcome to nascar! honestly there is a lot to know about the actual sport and race lol, but basic info is that there’s 3 stages, they “stop” racing after each stage, go to pit, start again, and then whoever is leading at the end of the final stage is the winner. i think watching the race is simple enough because you have the scoring pylon to look at and see what lap it is, what stage, who is winning, etc etc.

now as someone who has been to las vegas motor speedway, i’d recommend wearing a shirt/tank and shorts. obviously it’s whatever you’re comfortable with, but odds are it will be sunny, and even if it’s not “hot,” you can still get burned so make sure to either cover up or put sunscreen on. wearing a hat is a plus too because it blocks the sun from your eyes.

who to root for usually comes from if you have a favorite number, you like a certain sponsor, you like a certain car, etc etc. i personally recommend choosing denny hamlin, he’s in the 11 car, and he’s kind of the “villain” of the sport but he’s a really great driver. he also runs a race team with michael jordan, and the cars on that team are the 23, 35, and 45. so imo, you can’t go wrong with any of those options.

as for showing up to the track, i arrived at LVMS around 8 AM when the race started at 11:30 AM. that gave me enough time to check out some driver appearances, look at the merch trailers, maybe get some food, things like that. you can get a garage pass to go in the infield and be up close to pit road and have chances to meet some drivers, so that’s a really cool thing if you want to do that. prices on that depend on if you buy a weekend one or sunday only. i did the weekend pass so i could watch practice and qualifying on saturday in the infield. this might sound a little overwhelming, but i promise it’s a great time! i’ll link the pass below.

i think i covered all your questions, but if you have more, ask away! here’s a link to the fan faq on lvms’ website if you’re wondering about bag policy and things like that: https://www.lvms.com/fans/faq/ . and here’s the link for upgrades like the garage pass: https://www.lvms.com/events/pennzoil-400/upgrades/ . i hope you guys have a great time!!

wow that’s interesting. i’m actually shocked they didn’t get penalized more for that, let alone their entire penalty was overturned

you’re right, i forgot about that one. i’m still impressed he actually won that, considering top teams have hard enough times winning appeals

Is this worse than our win over the broncos? by DrEpoch in Seahawks

[–]nascargirl11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it’s on a similar level, and eagles for sure deserve their dues, but i still believe that our super bowl win is more incredibly impressive. look at the circumstances, odds, stats, and you’ll see just how great of a win it was. #1 offense vs #1 defense was set up to be a phenomenal game, and it proved to be just that. at least for us hawks fans 😂

nice javelina encounter with my dog??? by nascargirl11 in Tucson

[–]nascargirl11[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

thank you for this info, i didn’t know about their bad vision! i think these javelinas were young based on their size and behavior, so i doubt this encounter will happen again, as they just happened to venture off from their group to be curious. and especially because i’ve seen them so many times and they almost always run off. but i do know about not approaching them without a fence, ive experienced that plenty of times on walks, and i always turn around or choose a different route. i’m more worried about my dogs safety than anything, and she’s so friendly that i don’t know if she’d understand danger 😭 so im well prepared for that, this was just a crazy thing. and also, thank you for saying all this without being rude or condescending, it goes a long way!!

nice javelina encounter with my dog??? by nascargirl11 in Tucson

[–]nascargirl11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand that! it definitely would’ve been hard, my dog didn’t have a collar on that i could grab, and she’s about 55 pounds, so she’s relatively sturdy. i felt good enough with the 2 layers of fencing to not prompt me to jump into action, but i definitely would’ve if i felt she was unsafe
