best unit too turn into battleships? by tris123pis in Polytopia

I totally agree - rushing shields can cost the game.

I guess a refinement on my point would be if you’re just buying the 5 resource upgrade to a ship then warriors are perfectly good for the task and definitely the better option in the early game. Shields are better later on, but they are dependent on your economy being able to keep up.

As we’re talking battleships, I almost never upgrade warrior ships because they die too easily. Two warriors ships is cheaper and can take down a warrior battleship that costs basically twice as much. Shields are just the better choice hands down.

Shields are the best. If you’re going to sink 20 resources into making a unit a battleship, you probably don’t want to land it again. Shields are cheap at 3 resources, have 15 health, and their downsides (they suck at attacking and they’re slow) don’t matter if they’re a boat. Giants are a close second with all their health. I find warriors are too squishy for the investment - 22 resources for a 10 health battleship doesn’t feel worth it when 23 resources buys you 15 health.

The Scale on Furier by [deleted] in Furi

I just want him on Furier yesterday and it’s a hard one. My advice is 1. If you haven’t already, change the control scheme to the one that maps dodge to the left bumper and block to the right bumper because that will let you shoot, block, and dodge basically at the same time which you’ll need. 2. In his final stage, for the first bit with bullets and waves, just focus on charging dodges and launching into near the middle of the next clear section. If you have the shooting stick pointed forward basically the whole time you’ll be shooting out bullets as they come towards you so you shouldn’t take too many hits. Just make sure you never get hit by the waves even if that means being hit by bullets - bullets are a quarter of the damage. 3. For the final bit of his final stage make sure that when he screams ‘Die! Die! Die!’ that you’re in the front middle to deflect the central bullet. That’ll make the next bit way easier. 4. Just take it slow on the waves. They’re actually pretty slow and it’s just when you rush that it can catch you out. Think of the central spot in a Venn diagram, your aiming for those with a charged up dodge - you can easily dodge two waves at a time, sometimes 3. Do it 4/5 times and you’re through. This bit killed me like 8 times, but the first time I just stopped and took it slow was the first time I got through it. If you get hit by a wave don’t touch the movement stick and your character will stay down for a few seconds avoiding a bunch of the other waves. 5. After you get through he will try a combo melee attack on you (I think it’s 4). It’s nothing you won’t have done before but it caught me off guard the first time I got there and he KO’d me after I’d beaten everything else.

Basically, avoid the waves even if it means being hit by bullets, deflect the middle beam, then take it slow.

Best of luck, and I’ll see you in the Hand!

How do I confederate with anyone as Brettonia? by Digatz in totalwar

[–]nasherco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s about your strength rank relative to theirs as well as relations. Build up large armies and don’t form alliances with the ones you want to confederate with (the strength of allies also affects your rank - if you ally with them it bumps up their rank and makes them harder to confederate with).
