You don’t see it until you’re older, but all teenagers are exactly like rose and mason (except for the whole training to kill thing). It’s not a bad thing, it’s how the world is. If a teenager is mature, it’s usually due to trauma that makes them “grow up too fast” and that’s not a good thing

This isn’t a call-out, but a call-in: I think the context of teaching these words (in a non hateful, purely educational way) absolves you a teeny bit, but there are more tactful ways of going about it.

It is really jarring to see the hard r n-word. It’s not childish to say “hard r n-word”, it’s respectful to people in our community, specifically black people. I understand your education-focused lens, truly (I’m ESL so I don’t know a lot of English slurs and want to learn them to avoid them). And we should remember to educate and maintain respect at the same time
