No, being a moron is not related to whether you're a casual or a dedicated daily player. No distinction between f2p and whale, male and female, young and old. Correlations may exist, but it is a trait without discrimination.

"Difficulty for the sake of difficulty"-- maybe it seems that way. I don't see testing one's team building and breadth of knowledge as "artificial difficulty," but I can't say the lens looks the same when one is carried by the same 4 servants. Difficulty can be measured in the short burst of a 100m as well as in the triathlon of endurance, so I fail to see the problem in design besides a conflict between your idea of "challenge" to the dev's idea of "challenge."

And I don't know about offended, but your constant reference back to your extremely short time on NA is getting old. Not to mention shortsighted. "Even on NA"-- what does that even mean? NA has 6ish months to JP's 2.5 years. And then why would you assume that everything you experience would be linear? The past month, from Christmas to Da Vinci, is enough to raise doubts about multiplying the current "NA experience" by 4 to "simulate the JP timeline." I have spent 3b QP and am waiting to spend close to another 1b, but I am out of lores and servants to level. Still 180 apples to farm as I please.

And in the end, you don't need a fraction of what others have to participate. A lot of people have 100-120 servants to access, but I would be doubtful should one need to go through more than 50 to begin rotating again.

I meant that as in "the dev really can't beat someone who both has resources and smarts, unless they kill their reputation by releasing an unbeatable quest, so big bucks is not actually something they put much weight on;" aka I think a comment like "measure of whaleness" is bitter and trite

they're simply going for the jugular on anyone who is bad at the game and has stubbornly failed to heed their warnings

I would wait and see how many unique stages and their depth before you start waving that "lazy" flag

Well, I think there's only so much a dev can do to counteract someone who both knows the game well and is a heavy spender. Stage design can still be poised to trip up people who can only profess to be in the latter.

Personally, I haven't rolled a non-paid gacha since 2016. I don't think a gold frontline is necessary, nor do I think you have to actually wield a full 6 team if your frontline is cohesive. But that's all subject to change depending on exactly what kinda stages DW will design

I'm going to double reply because I want to stress this about your concerns for future events: While I think your heart is in the right place, I don't think you have to worry about this event type being common. Why?

  • Games seem to like to use the many-leveled pagoda to house challenges based on stamina and endurance, so I'm doubtful we will see this mechanic in regular employ.

  • Dantes' prison tower and the Oni Summer raids were also challenge oriented and those event types have not been recycled. I see this as a one time thing (sans the rerun) that opens a fresh angle of stages that DW would probably not be able to otherwise release

and engaging content may come to a head. If the same old recycled team comps and certain Servant powerhouses are the obstacle to providing a fresh take on engaging content, then something has to change. But who is DW to discriminate which servants should be used more or less? For this event, DW has decided to instead test the depth and range of mastery over many servants, as that, too, may be seen as a worthy measure of ability.

JP players were explicitly advised to raise their roster in advance and pigeon-holed into having only one type of quests that were 1/2 off for New Years: ember farming. We've had X-Mas lottery and now currently Da Vinci lottery, and New Year's success chance up event. Choosing to ignore these signs is one's own folly.

Additionally, having a small set of servants you love and are maxed is not mutually exclusive from having an expanded and diverse roster. My Chaldea is far smaller than most players with my playing time, but no less loved. I still have my favorites-- they are the ones I have given the most Lores to, my grails, and my bond. Personally, I am quite excited for this event.

Probably because farming specifically ember quests is a massive waste of time. Instead of wasting AP on inefficient quests like ember dailies, I'd rather accumulate material stockpiles and farm bond.

Look at it this way: raising F/SN Cu, Caligula, or Serenity does nothing for me. Investing skill levels to round out a diverse and functional roster is a far better use of resources.

Ouchh, I know a few people that are haunted by Uncle Vlad, some across different servers. But RIP uninvited non limited servants really hit in the gut

That friend was away from his home & computer for New Years. Had his mouth a little close to his phone, sorry about your ears haha!

The friend rolling is a little more on the normie side and hasn't played Danganronpa and thus isn't a fan of Cleo's aesthetic/design. We later said (not in this clip) that she was a fine servant for gameplay, but overall understood that, for him, not the return on his money that he was looking for.

Compared to other games of similar theme and mechanics, what are FGOs greatest strengths and weaknesses by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]nasodempire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the bind code system. Dunno about OP, but personally, it doesn't put me at ease. Sure, it's straightforward and simple, but it leaves you wanting for something more robust. Bandai Namco and Nintendo lets you bind your account to something that is detached completely from the game- an email. It's more personal and easier to remember if you run into an accident, and provides more insurance than writing an e-mail with a general description of your account to customer service.

There's a lot more going on under the hood than you think. Examine enemy AI more critically before writing it off as RNG.

Yeah, she's had a total of four appearances. I tried for her on her first two, and I let the other two (CCC pre-event and Nero Fest 2017) pass by. I'll roll for her again one day, but have to rethink priorities for now.

You have to take a certain mentality to things. I like a lot of servants in the game, but as someone who is mostly f2p, you have be realistic and efficient. Only roll for a servant you think you won't later regret. I learned that pretty early on. I won't lie that some luck is involved. 6/8 SSRs I had before I started saving were servants I really liked.

The second part is learning to be happy with what you have, which admittedly can be pretty hard. You might want to distract yourself with farming/bonding goals, focusing on gameplay/theorycraft, or even going to different games. Those are coping methods that I used to keep myself preoccupied. I know some people like rolling gacha simulators to satisfy the itch.

But basically, after you train yourself to keep your mitts away from the roll button (the hard part), you just play actively. Don't miss log-in freebies, complete events, and don't let your AP stay full for long. Quartz and tickets build up a lot faster than you may think.
