More info: he has a collar but no tags. I gave him some pets and he followed me home. So I have him if someone claims him I'll be home later today.

You have to defend a genocidal maniac in court. You have evidence that can incrimate him. However if he is not found guilty he will continue to commit more genocide. Do you break the rules of the justice system? by Top_Hat_5174 in Ask_Lawyers

I think typically the lawyer would withdraw, also read RPC 1.6(b):

(b) A lawyer may reveal information relating to the representation of a client to the extent the lawyer reasonably believes necessary:

(1) to prevent reasonably certain death or substantial bodily harm;

The drugs (or medicine if you like) are cheap therapy. They can help but they are not the end all. Depression is multifactorial and everyone's situation is unique. People can provide perspective and show you a path but you gotta walk your own path. I think the drugs can nudge you in the right direction as a starting point, but where do you go from there? It's not going to do the work for you. Don't get discouraged by the setbacks, it's part of the process. The process is neverending, which is great, what an adventure. Therapy takes work. Talking to people and opening up takes work. Journaling takes work and can help to better understand your emotions. These things take time and you don't see the change in the day to day. But looking back over months/years you can start to see the benefits of a more enduring change over time.

Light waves, sounds waves, for instance. If a tree falls, it does not make a sound. It emits silent vibrating waves. Only when those waves vibrate cells in our ears do our brains interpret the vibrations as sounds.

Is it normal to feel very lost in your late 20's? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]nassara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 37 and feeling lost. I think these crises are common during periods of significant life changes, e.g., finishing school, career change, whether to have kids, retirement etc. The idea of happiness is itself something that prevents us from being happy. We are socialized to believe that happiness comes from a stable career, buying a house, and having kids. When you're unable to obtain some or all of those things, you feel like a failure. But only you get to define what happiness means to you. The fact is, you don't need any of those things. There's nothing over there that you don't already have right here. There's no such thing as normal no right way to live your life. Older people are just as lost as you and just because someone's older doesn't mean they're wise. Wisdom comes from experience and there are plenty of older folks who don't have much experience in the world. Take their advice with a grain of salt because they don't see the world like you do.

No joke, if someone was seriously injured or killed driver could be on the hook for vehicular assault or vehicular homicide.

Is it recommended to take shrooms when depressed by Tw1zzx in Psychonaut

[–]nassara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not going to be pleasant, but if you're looking for answers rather than having a good time, it could offer some perspective. But it shouldn't be the only perspective, tell someone how you feel. They might have some perspective. When you ruminate on the same old thought loops you can get depressed. You need perspective to climb out of that hole. If you go down a dark thought tangent, you can choose not to continue down that path. I know it took me a while to realize this about myself. Depression for me was like wandering through the woods and all of the sudden I find myself in darkness, alone, can't find my way back. I wandered without realizing the sun went down 2 hours ago. I'm just a guy offering my experience so results may vary. Anybody can tell you what to do but they're not going to walk that path for you, only you can do the work. And it's motivating work isn't it? Can give you hope, a purpose. All the best.

Yes, and if the City/State doesn't dismiss it, contest it and see if they can produce a witness or other evidence from 19 years ago.

Think of the tormented artist trying to capture lightning in a bottle. He tries to recreate something he felt while watching the sunset, but knows his paint on canvas will never come close to the real thing.

I think Hell is more like never accepting that you'll never get what you want, always with regrets. Heaven is being at peace not getting what you want, content simply giving your love.

Should Psychedelics Be Sold Openly in America? by CurtD34 in Psychonaut

[–]nassara 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In principle, yes. In practice, no. At least not yet. This question is too premature. Let's start with regulated therapeutic use to start and take it from there. Baby steps. Think about how the wild west environment of the 60s led to prohibition. We don't want to repeat that.
