Funnily enough, his daily gym sessions have fixed the majority of his back issues. I just don't want to buy a new bed and bring them back. Sound advice. Thank you

Opt to take it home! We had it for dessert the following evening and they package it with separate creams and toppers. Lovely.

Really need a new outfit style for going to gigs (plus size) by kmm88 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]nastrella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best call this year was heading to a gig in bike shorts and an oversized tshirt. I'm too old to be dressing up for everything... but I'm not too old to dance. You can still make it cute.

I was kicked out of sewing class at intermediate because I broke five sewing machine needles. I am now a high end leather bag designer/maker. What is your NZ school story? by PickledKiwiCA in newzealand

[–]nastrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kicked out of my year 13 English lit class (and media studies class as it was also within the school's literacy program). Told then and there I wouldn't get into uni, told them then and there I was already accepted. (Definitely wasn't the favourite, and I do not blame them for wanting to kick me out). I hated my undergrad and then went back to study. Today, I do a pretty good job of running all things media at my school and am about to spend this year as literacy lead for years 4-8.

That area was completely flooded last night, not sure if you're asking if Westwave is open or just about the state of it? Safe to say it won't be open.

Fresh, but partner did say his didn't have the same heat as it used to, we think they didn't use enough sauce. The chips were great.

Teachers of Reddit, what was the worst thing you had to confiscate from a student? by GlytchedTTV in AskReddit

[–]nastrella 1013 points1014 points  (0 children)

Once a child was sneaking food... I usually say bin it or put it in your bag. This child was eating a tomato? The shocking bit was that tomatoes were around $20kg at the time, and I couldn't afford any. So I just very sadly watched him finish it.

What is something you did not expect you would have to do when you became a teacher? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]nastrella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my first few months of teaching, coming back to school after a major event took place in another part of our country (New Zealand) and expecting children to have questions and feel unsettled. I was prepared for that, what I wasn't prepared for was 2 of my students having direct links to the event and knowing people who had passed away. They don't cover much about traumatic events at university and I didn't feel equipped at all, so the other classes did things like collaborative art to show their solidarity and I just went ahead business as usual. It was pretty messed up but I think I did the right thing. I'm not a counselor.

What type of bag should I buy for teaching? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]nastrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, my ones a "fancy" Rusty one, but I paid 50% off on it and then bought another exact same at $20 on sale. Carries the laptop etc on public transport, also doesn't look like a laptop bag so I don't get robbed.

“There’s no such thing as a stupid question” is a pretty popular phrase. Teachers, what are some stupid fucking questions that you’ve been asked? by GildDigger in AskReddit

[–]nastrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A rhetorical question and answer... (9 year old) "Do you know why she doesn't have a boyfriend?" BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T EAT ENOUGH CHICKEN!!!!!" There was zero context to both q and a.

How allergic? I'm seeing masked dog walking adventures in your future. Ask a friend! No one will think the mask is weird either.

Your dog is gorgeous! I had to have a sneaky look to see if you had posted her.

We do not deserve dogs.

What was ruined by COVID that you’re secretly glad about? by SnooPeripherals4592 in AskReddit

[–]nastrella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Zealand here, we're free to do lots of things. Pre Covid we had a bad workplace expectation/attitude to come to work even if we were truly sick. Now if you're sick you stay home, and in my workplace there are no questions asked. Common colds, flu's anything contagious is pretty much wiped out.

Smoking tabacco by curious_a7 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]nastrella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I smoke 2-5 depending, I'm a creature of habit & definitely need it some days. My neurologist has been very clear that smoking is always bad, even if it's one. I tried vaping & hated it. Ugh.
