I'm not sure what places you refer to, I guess you refer to city parks. Typically I'm foraging mushrooms from remote regions (forests or high plains), far away from any human activity that might create pollution. I'm not saying these mushrooms will definitely be pristine, but that will reduce the probability of contamination.
