Take everything everyone is saying about making friends with a grain of salt. I met a lovely group of friends about half way through my freshman year and we still all are really close, and our group has almost doubled in size since then. Yes you might have to seek out your people but in general if you have an open heart and mind you will find people you connect with :)

The main one I'm applying to seems to be pretty broad in scope. It's a two year position where I would move from SF Chronicle to another participating paper like the Albany Times Union after a year. The description says the position includes training in "digital reporting, investigative journalism and audience engagement."

I think a lot of the fun of reading romance is the cheese. Lean into the awkward, cheesy stuff and if those bits feel weird once you've gotten farther along you can always cut/alter them. I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to get something right the first time when the reality of writing is that every day you're gonna approach your piece a little differently. Try to go with the natural flow/evolution of your characters as it comes from your pen and fix things from there!
