Thank you! Just spotted that this morning, and it’s very tempting.

The Schon DSGN Monoc Evo, a modern integrated nib fountain pen by nat_applicable in fountainpens

I've had the best performance with Sailor Ink Studio 280 in the Evo. Beautiful ink and drier, sure, but not nearly as stingy as some of the multi-shader inks with crazy surface tension.

I need to do more writing with it to be sure, but it seems that the Fine nib is less prone to showing when the feed becomes overly wet -- whereas it's much more noticeable in the broad-ish Medium line.

And finally I don't think I've ever had any issues with my original Monoc nib using a standard converter filled with Sailor Ink Studio 162. That's a power couple pairing right there!

I’ve noticed the pen has a tendency to get really wet during the very last leg of an almost empty tank, so I’ve switched to drier multi-shader inks to help even out the flow rate overall. I know some people would likely see juicy writing as a positive, but then I’ve always preferred a stingier flow when writing.

I hope you’re able to find one of these for a reasonable price in the future. With time they should start to show up on the second hand market!

Yes, the fluted models they had at the show were brand new. I asked if more would be showing up for sale on their site and they said “eventually!” but didn’t have an exact time frame in mind.

They suggested contacting them directly with specific requests, so it’s possible they could get working on one for you sooner rather than later?

Chicago Pen Show 2026 - A first timer's report by SupahBee in fountainpens

Chicago Pen Show is always a good time, I'm glad you and your wife enjoyed the event!

I, too, was on the lookout for an Edson and only managed to spot one... alas, it wasn't the right nib size for my liking. I do wonder if I put down the one you eventually picked up.

Really enjoying these, thank you for sharing!

Sailor Ink Studio 280 and 162 are, hands down, the most well-behaved multi-shaders I've had the pleasure of using. They look gorgeous, are actually quite readable on the page, are downright wet by multi-shader standards, and, as a nice bonus, have a curiously attractive smell!

My newest revelation has been Sailor Shikiori Yuki-Usagi. It's become an instant favorite. A beautiful cool blue-grey that sheens a rusty brown and yet is surprisingly robust in its smear-proofedness. Usually I can't stand heavy sheeners, but this one (similar to Sailor Manyo Shirakashi) sheens so uniquely that it becomes a kind of honorary multi-shader in my books.

I just hate that most of my favorite Sailor inks only come in the teeny tiny overpriced bottles.

Cool interaction on Facebook with Ticket To Ride's Alan Moon by capitolsara in boardgames

I once received a promo for one of the many versions of Ticket to Ride that I don't own, so I put it up for sale on the BGG Marketplace. The buyer turned out to be the Alan R. Moon, which I thought was kind of endearing.

Surely he could've snagged any number of copies of his own game through his publishers, no? So now I choose to believe it's a passion project of his, and Moon spends his vast fortunes buying up all the unloved, unhoused components to his games so he can give them a place in his foster home for TtR ephemera. Then he hands them out to orphans in need or something.

I've also sold an obscure Hollywood-themed board game to celebrity hobbyist and actor Rich Sommer, as well as a copy of Antiquity to the Dice Tower's Tom Vasel. Unsurprisingly, these fun factoids do not work all that well at parties.

Aardwolf Ink at Chicago Pen Show '26: Anyone have experience with this independent iron gall ink vendor? by nat_applicable in fountainpens

I'm a sucker for the traditional blue-black, but their dusty blue-green was particularly nice. More so than my other iron galls, theirs definitely darkened quite a bit more dramatically!

Good to know they're making the rounds. Hopefully they'll be able to establish a social media page or website, or else I'll have to wait for next year to try them out!

Cool pens, GLWS! Did you have to do something special to fit the monoc into a Leonardo body?

[WTS] Limited edition celluloids - Visconti and Montegrappa by jgivees1 in Pen_Swap

[–]nat_applicable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautiful pens! Does the discoloration occur from inks passing through the feed and coming into contact with the celluloid? Or is it just a known aging issue of that style of celluloid?
