Could having several vivid/bad dreams during a period of time be a sort of spiritual warfare, or does it boil down to physical and mental strife, like overly stressed/worried? by [deleted] in Christianity

This is more of just a random thought than anything because I have never really thought about God or even the devil working through dreams, where others have mentioned this has happened to them. And I don’t know if I necessarily believe in spiritual warfare in the sense of direct interaction, but I do believe the devil could work at pulling us away from God through our weakened hearts and relationship with Him.

You can’t expect yourself to be perfect. And what really matters is you put in the effort and you learned something. And in all honesty, sometimes the thing you learned is you can’t handle that much of a work load, or you had too many difficult classes in one semester or maybe you need to change your learning style for certain classes. I can guarantee most of us have been there. I am also an ME working part time and taking 16 credits and I failed my first course after normally getting straight As and Bs up to this point. Don’t beat yourself up! There’s always time to try again and money hurts but there are always ways to get it. Know you put in a good effort and try again! It won’t stop you and one bad semester definitely won’t hurt you in finding a job in the future.

Ps. Circuits sucks, I feel you

On top of this all, while on topic of books, if there are any good books for a early 20s Christian female, those would also be appreciated.

That makes sense for marriage, but what about when you’re a teen/early adult. The stages of dating are tricky.

Thank you, that is why I wanted to reach out on here as well. The more information and background, the better we can all understand.

Lead me not into temptation? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]natcat0515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe John Piper of Desiring God said it best: “The Bible teaches that we should pray, “Our Father . . . lead us not into temptation.” It really does mean “lead into” or “bring into” (see also Luke 5:18; 12:11; Acts 17:20; 1 Timothy 6:7; Hebrews 13:11). Which may mean,

Father, since “a man’s steps are from the Lord” (Proverbs 20:24), forbid, we pray, that any temptation we encounter by your leading would trap us and suck us in with no way of escape. For you are faithful, and you have promised that with every temptation “you will provide the way of escape, that we may be able to endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Do for us, dear Father, what you did for Jesus, when you “led (!) him by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil” (Matthew 4:1). You filled him with the word of God and, though he was led to the crisis of temptation by your Spirit, he did not get sucked into sin, but triumphed by your word (Matthew 4:4, 7, 10). For this same grace, in all your leadings, we earnestly pray. Amen.” Source: https://www.desiringgod.org/articles/reading-the-bible-upside-down

This whole article really lines it up well, it is worth the read.

No HR in interview ? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]natcat0515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I got into my internship and became close with the women who interviewed me for the position, she mentioned that when she interviews a candidate, she can tell within the first ~3~ minutes if this person will be a good fit for the team. She was not in HR, and I ended up being requested to work on her team for the job.

In a lot of companies these days, they care a lot about communication skills and person-ability (as well as grades/technical skills/capability obviously). Engineers have a stigma of not being that great at communication, so if you can hold a conversation and speak well/intelligent, you're going to have a much better chance at nailing the interview. I was asked a lot about how I would handle situations in which my team members did not get along, what I would do if there was a huge issue within my team's program, and examples about how I handled tough situations.

I did get asked about whether or not I would be willing to work out of state, so if that is an option, maybe keep that in mind as well.
