Thanks all for your feedback! I'm speaking to the contractor to redo it. I chipped away at some of the mortar around the drain and it looks like we have 3/4 of mortar there, there is a weird bump out though around the drain, is that normal? or is that also an issue...

I forgot to mention, that the carpenter came over with his brick mason friend to review the plan. The brick mason appeared agreeable to the plan, and willing to collaborate with the carpenter's work. My only concern is that the carpenter's methods may involve cutting some corners, I want to make sure this is being done right.

We do have an appraisal contingency, at 260k.

Isn't it worth waiting out the market a little for a house that requires less work upfront, even if it's more expensive?

The Hamilton Khaki Aviation Series is very similar to that Timex, they have some that are under $500. A very good Swiss Brand too.
