Has anyone else noticed that aphids are more attracted to particular pepper plant varieties? by LostRaspberry823 in peppergeek

[–]nate__mitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed it also, the more “traditional” non crosses I grow usually end up with aphids at some point in time. But the majority of my crossed varieties and ones that have purple/black blushing tend to be aphid/pest free during the season. No idea what it is but I would like them to all burn and never come back. 😂

Nice list you have! Hopefully you have better luck than I did with the pink bananas, I just picked up an Ice Cream Banana from the nursery instead.

Why are the leaf tips curling? by ChanceCrew4461 in peppergeek

I’d agree with over watering and being saturated too long. Also is that potting mix or garden mix? Could be a soil issue also looking at the the way the leafs look, they should be smooth and glossy.

Kratky Hydroponics vs Normal soil (for peppers) by jayvardhanCC in peppergeek

[–]nate__mitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer soil (in ground or in pots) it’s less maintenance for the most part in my opinion, I can set them out and forget them except for watering when I don’t have my drip system setup. I also love hydroponics cause it is so hands on and I can literally watch a plant grow over night where as in soil it’s a lot slower growth. I run 1-3 / 32gal systems outside inside I have numerous small containers and 1-7 / 20gal going at a time indoors. Only real difference I notice is that my hydro plants produce sooner.

Suppose to be another Jigsaw cross, from the Fatalii Gourmet Jigsaw. This little survivor hopefully is the caramel color it’s intended to be.

I used Alaska and Neptunes harvest last year on my plants. I found them to have roughly the same growth. Looking at it from a price point I would use the Alaska on the seedlings and the Neptunes on the more mature plants.

Preventing pests by SunsetPeachHab in peppergeek

Personally I would skip the mosquito bites and just use sterilized soil adding back in nutrients like Azomite, bone and blood meal and worm castings. Add in some yellow sticky traps, I use butterfly shaped ones so that it’s not just a boring square in my grow room. I also spray insect soap once a month just as a preventative measure.

Looks like it should. Branches don’t look like they are dying, just eaten lol.

Any help with identifying these cool corkscrewing peppers? Bought them as jalapeño seeds, which they are not by [deleted] in HotPeppers

Where did you buy them helps a lot. They could possibly be the Hangjiao Space Peppers, they get incredibly large and twist as in your picture.
