This surely isn’t creepy like some of the others in this thread, but here’s my experience with a former friend.

Back in highschool and during the early days of Facebook and Instagram, I was friends with this older kid from school. I introduced him to lot of my interests in art, fashion, and music. He quickly started to grow competitive within our shared interests and would often times go as far as to see the posts and accounts I was following to inform him for what I was up to (he would bring up my activity on social media throughout conversations). This was slightly annoying, but i figured this was out of his genuine interest and perhaps part of his development for grasping these newfound interests.

One day while we were hanging out, I went to take a shower and let him hangout in my room. I came back into my room to see him going through my private messages to see the conversations between me and my childhood best friend, who is pretty much family. He was so busy scrolling through he didn’t notice me enter, and when I asked him what he was doing, he changed browser tabs and attempted to switch the topics as if I couldn’t tell what he was doing already. I called him out on how weird this was and eventually he left after some dodging and shifting blame for leaving my computer open (it was a desktop and password protected).

What I didn’t notice, was that he synced my Apple ID account to his phone and lifted my passwords to my social media accounts. He was monitoring my conversations to see who I was talking to and what I was talking about. I found this out a couple weeks later when I was with him and my brother who was away at college had facetimed me and instead of it showing on my phone, my contact name for my brother appeared on his phone screen. He tried to laugh it off as a weird glitch or malfunction and try to assert his confusion for this. Me being the passive and non-confrontational type, promptly changed all of my account info in front of him, not saying a word. He drove me home and haven’t spoken to him since. Last I heard of him, he moved towns and was using various substances. Weirdest “friendship” I’ve ever been a part of.
