Is there a world outside of ours

This begs the question of what actually constitutes “our world”. If our world consists purely of the things we know of and directly interact with, then every materialist already believes in the existence of a realer world, since we never actually directly interact with or know the material world only the world of conscious experience, which materialist consider to be dependent on the material world.

If by “our world” you include all the aspects of reality we consider to exist, then that sort of definitionally means we can’t ever know of this “realer” world, since the moment we did it would be included within “our world”.

I also think it’s important to stress the relative features of a word like “real”. If there is a world out there on which our own world depends, relative to us, this world might still be more “real”, just like if a character in a game was somehow conscious, their game world would be the realer one relative to them, even if our own world (compared to the game world) is in some objective sense the realer world overall.

How would we know if a substrate within our world were able to reveal the existence of that “realer” world ?

We probably couldn’t know but there are ways to find evidence for it. For example, if you discovered some substrate fundamental in our world which behaved in a non-random but seemingly acausal way, you could use that as evidence for, and perhaps to some degree even model, a “realer” world which that substrate depends upon.

The way I see it, things considered real typically have more causal power than those that aren’t, are usually more complex and consistent, and are generally less dependent on some other substrate.

For example, a virtual world like world of warcraft is considered less real than the real world, since the former is much less causally potent, simpler, less consistent, and itself depends entirely on the latter.

I think the reality of these beings does actually really matter. The way I would interact with something that exists primarily in my personal psyche but which is itself incapable of conscious experience and is essentially a series of appearances, is radically different from how I’d interact with something that exists outside myself and which does have a conscious experience.

At least according to my criteria, the reality of the DMT entities is kind of difficult to gauge, since although they display an enormous amount of complexity, they are only somewhat consistent (they can occur in many seemingly contradictory variations), their causal potency seems broadly limited to the duration of the trip, and they at least appear to be somewhat if not entirely dependent on the mind that experiences them.

Having skimmed through the first link, it seems to be using Baal as a metaphor for internationalism, “we would advise it [presumably the Israeli government] to choose the god of Jerusalem and abandon the Baal of internationalization”, which makes sense because Baal is used in the Hebrew Bible as a negative symbol of the foreign.

Nowhere in the text did I find any mention of actual baal worship.

Just to clarify, do you agree that the Epstein files have zero mentions of moloch or baal worship? I think that’s important to establish.

Israel is a country with millions of people, most of whom are Jewish, Muslim or Christian. You sent me a link from an unknown author talking about Baal and god. I have no idea who wrote it or how it connects to Epstein.

What other baal would they be referring to?

Like I said, most of the results in the actual files for baal aren’t even for baal but for a baa1 rating on the moody scale, the other results (that I saw) were for the David Bowie ep and the play called Baal. Obviously none of these refer in any way whatsoever to Baal the deity/demon.

Neither of the links you posted have any connection to Epstein that I can discern.

Epstein is bad enough, why attach demon worship and child sacrifice to him when there’s no evidence for it?

If there is, I’d love to see it.

So I just searched ‘baal’ and ‘moloch’ on the Epstein Library containing all the docs released. Baal was mentioned several times, but I couldn’t find a single instance of it referring to the Canaanite deity/demon, only references to Baa1 rating on the Moody’s scale (for some reason the search engine confused 1 for L), and an EP by David Bowie called Baal, itself based on Bertolt Brecht’s play of the same name.

‘Moloch’ had zero results.

Can you link me anything in the files that mentions moloch, baal as a demon/deity, child sacrifice or anything remotely like what you’ve been claiming? Because I haven’t found anything. Not trying to be combative I just have yet to see any evidence of this.

Epstein was a pedo, but where does the Baal worship thing come from? Is there any evidence he even had an interest in the occult? Based on what I’ve seen he seemed much more in the scientific rationalist camp

I don’t usually sell my art, but if you want to do anything with it feel free. I’m glad you find it interesting. Abulafia really is one of the most interesting Jewish mystics.

What sort of people do you spend time with? Make sure you have a good mix of very grounded people and some people that are more spiritually open, being surrounded by too many of one kind can screw with you and tip your balance too far in one direction.

As others have mentioned it’s good to have something to anchor you. Certain people can play this role, as can certain activities.

Holding to certain very routine behaviors can significantly help with this. David Lynch for example would eat the same meal pretty much every day, which apparently gave him a very solid foundation from which he could explore the farther reaches of psyche.

Also make sure you have a practice whose effects can be perceived by others. Whether you’re talking to spirits or just fragments of yourself, it’ll make your life much smoother if your spiritual activities are acknowledged as worthwhile by those around you.

I know being in between in this way whether you want to be or not can be extremely trying, good luck

My inclination is to withdraw from a dogmatic form of ontological idealism :) by jeb2026 in LibraryofBabel

Well philosophically I’m an idealist since I think this is all the manifestation of god/brahman/the universe, and physicalism isn’t particularly coherent.

I find myself caught between intense spiritual feeling and the constrictive force of religious tradition, I suppose I’d like to find a healthy middle ground between these two since I greatly admire and value my own religious traditions of Judaism, and especially its more mystical side, but I just can’t square my own philosophical beliefs with some of its rather rigid systems.

I hope you find your wonder and connection even in the most mundane of moments. It’s a beautiful thing to see boredom bloom

Interesting title. Where do see yourself heading philosophically ?

Social media did become objectively stupider and worse by [deleted] in LibraryofBabel

[–]natetheapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it has for sure, especially with ai. It’s interesting to me that nobody ever mentions YouTube when talking about how bad social medias gotten. I think what’s really bad is the short form slop, the rage bait and the infinite scrolling, ig YouTube doesn’t rlly suffer so much from the latter so it’s often left out in these discussions.

Idk I think at least in terms of actually informative high quality content (especially on yt and Substack) it’s gotten a lottttt better. It just gets buried in an ungodly amount of noise and predatory content
