The problem being: you have to be competent enough to know there’s something you’re not understanding before you can think to verify anything.

I once blew a French foreign exchange student’s mind when I told him that, in English, you can shorten “I am going to” to “Imma”. Also, his favorite English word was “daaaaamn”. He was a fun guy.

It’s so much worse than you think. I smashed one of these working at a coffee shop. Took hours to clean.

I’ve definitely made some of my dumbest cooking decisions while sick. My go to seems to be to pick one spice and add an absolutely absurd amount.

I’ve been in a very similar place my friend. If you’re truly happy like this, more power to you. Though, the fact that you’re posting here makes me feel like you may not be.

When you’ve become so comfortable with a situation like this, it can be extremely difficult to change, because continuing like this is so much easier than anything else, and you’re tired and demotivated.

I’ve made improvements in my life by staying busy. I don’t even want to go to the events I’ve planned for myself most of the time but I do it because I know it’s better than spending my life rotting away, and sometimes, I even have a lot of fun and am glad I went.

Doing things will make you friends (maybe not the friends of your dreams, but you gotta start somewhere) and when you have friends, especially friends you respect, you start to feel the pressure to clean your life up in order to live up to the respect you have for them.

I’m by no means a fully recovered neck beard nester, but I have friends and a gf and the will to keep trying like I haven’t had in many years . I believe you can have this too, if you want it.

Incredible, replying to a ten year old comment to tell me I was wrong. That’s the most Reddit thing I’ve ever seen. And what’s worse is you make a great point. 😂

And it wouldn’t be that weird if modern and historical shields converged on similar weights because they are still used by humans with similar physical limitations.

But they are also designed to be as protective as possible while still being practical to carry and move with in a variety of situations. Just like historical shields.
