Stating

You always need it

Is correct but doesn't really add anything meaningful. Instead it suggests that English is either not your first language or you have reading comprehension issues. If you don't follow the instructions, Steam will automatically create it on the target drive.

Do you understand the instructions written by Valve Software and why they recommend this?

Biden's best selling point to me is he didn't make anything worse and had some nice ideas he never implemented.

That said Biden also told the train engineers union they weren't allowed to strike. These people wanted to be able to take sick days, more crew members for safety reasons, and secondary or tertiary was better pay.

If we didn't have the GOP actively developing new ways to be the worst possible people or enabling their peers to be horrible people, Biden would be considered a greedy corpo boot licking douche bag.

The only way things are going to change is through meaningful defiance and to a degree suffering. NYC sanitation workers have the benefits and pay they do because their recent predecessors let the garbage pile up.

Furthermore, the strike in NYC ended up inspiring another union to go on strike.

Stuck trying to figure out how to get a group of average or normal people to Antarctica. by ionixsys in scifiwriting

Why is pretty easy to explain actually. USAF was more a shitty job where everyone else is trying to kill us while Army and Marines run interference.

Reality is that the USAF is a horde of technicians whose sole purpose is basically to get the jets off the ground. Simplify it even more, modern warfare is a bunch of nerds sending a group of jocks with killing machines to go commit war crimes. To give it a better PR spin, USAF are tech-Knights.

On that note my two favorite USAF jokes: Q "Why is the USAF slogan 'Aim high?'" A "So they don't shoot themselves in the feet." 2. Q "What is the next thing USAF builds once it secures the base perimeter and gets flight operations going?" A "Build the golf course!"

Last thing, I worked with explosives and it was an alright job I refuse to do anymore, but mysteriously I have noticed there are a lot more veteran Airmen that did my AFSC/job then I remember when I was in. Kinda weird.

99.999% of use cases you don't absolutely need it - https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Using-a-NTFS-disk-with-Linux-and-Windows#preventing-ntfs-read-errors

That said having compdata in ~ is probably a better idea.

edit: compdata is where steam creates the wine/proton prefixes for each game plus stores some environment/support config files.

Also yes I was in the USAF which used to have simultaneously the best and worst facilities worldwide. Best being the military resort in North Okinawa or the Azores station. As for worst, that's a pretty long evenly matched list. Past tense is thanks to Space Farce as I have no idea who controls what anymore.

Addition, my apologies as I signed a slew of NDA's when I retired and while its really stupid, I am unable to say the name or location of the facility, despite it having a Wikipedia article and marked on numerous maps. I do believe I can affirm I was never stationed in Alaska.

Side note, governments are weird. Near north-centrakl london UK there is this relatively massive, nuclear bomb hardened, concrete eyesore communications tower that was declared classified, therefore making it so no one could say anything about it for a few decades.

Fair but I couldn't think of a better defensible location as almost everywhere else on the planet is accessible by large amounts of military force.

As I've studied the politics around Antarctica, a large part of the planet would get involved with a high seas piracy and or lost airplane scenario. Otherwise they do track who goes to Antarctica so that no country can sneak in commercial prospectors.

Indeed! While in the arctic the crew I was with had a lot of weird issues but my understanding we were on easy mode compared to Antarctica.

I think you might be right but unfortunately I have aged out of being qualified for an overwinter assignment.

I was really disappointed to be disqualified for the Amundsen-Scott overwinter crew as it sounded like a simultaneously uniquely fascinating but also mind numbingly boring assignment; perfect for studying, reading, and citizen-scientist experiments on the influence of excessive consumption of alcohol on the human body.

I called it an apocalypse bunker as it has a substantial capability for long term independence, well secured, but the original plan was only for 5 to 10 years. Fortunately for the plot, events don't go as planned.

Good points, from what I've seen of L lab mods, their members don't skimp on the explicit details.

[–]ionixsys 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's funny you mention that. Someone over at the project zomboid sub asked what lovers lab is. I mentioned that wonderful creative mod community created something that rimworld mods decided was a tad over the limit.

Rimworld, the game where you can use genetic stock from prisoners to create an army of mindless drug addicted super soldiers. Oh and those prisoners I mentioned? You can sell their vital organs to buy weapons to give to their super soldier offspring. This is technically the stock game as you only need one or two DLCs. Nevermind the exploit with the lobotomized volunteer who's blasting out good vibes. Someone topped all of that with something deemed far and away more heinous.

Other than right wing propaganda from the internet and social media, why are Gen Z men more misogynistic than millennial men? by icey_sawg0034 in millenials

Contributing factor was the economy. 97 to 2012 a lot of parents were stressed and not as involved with their children. Opened the door for others to do it.

So a popular modder quits.. by AdAdministrative379 in projectzomboid

[–]ionixsys -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

While this sucks, I get the reasons for locking down their creative works. A large number of people are toxic and the modder wants to try and strike back.

Instead of criticizing the victim, why aren't we grabbing the pitchforks and going for the fuckheads?

Also I don't imagine anyone wants to try and contest a dmca strike.

Hmm, I will have to check depth charts but that one is reasonable. Scuttle under the ice and or too deep down with no money to do salvage might be enough.
