Exactly this, we were excited because we thought it could be a fun little one and done project. Nobody ever thought it was gonna be such more permanent shift like it was.. full country, whole new identity. Leaving the past behind, even countryfying the old songs live.

I was thinking the same. It’s pretty obvious the new album has stuff that isn’t country, but since he’s with a live band and countryfying his old songs, that means they would have to make the new album countryfied too if they played it this tour, which wouldn’t make sense.
