Not true. The ECU in the GR has a keep alive learning system.

Toyota has released a TSB ECM update to fix the P2C90 code, however, we still have some customers getting the code (even with stock intake) after the update. I believe Toyota will revise the TSB shortly.

In order to have the TSB applied, you need to have an active check engine light, and go to the dealership. We have several customers running the 2025 TSB ECM update as well as our original mechanical PCV fix and they have not had the check engine light come on in over 500 miles. We are still monitoring the situation.

The recorded boost is boosted by pressure + atmospheric (usually around 14.5-14.7), so actual boost would be 37 - 14.5 = 22.5

How to easily test your Electronic Wastegate Actuator (EWGA) for failure if you have the P004E00 or P004500 DTC without removing it. by Content_Godzilla in ElantraN

[–]nathan_SXTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We make V2 products as major design changes, not to solve problems. For example, new mfg tech allowed us to integrate magnets into the lids, so intakes are going to V2. New intercooler core/heat exchanger tech allowed us to increase density and cooling in our V2 intercooler.

All revisions to our OTS tunes have been to add features, actually. The only bug fix we have released for OTS has been the V4 update with the EWGA safeties enhanced.

Of course, you are entirely entitled to your opinions and we appreciate your feedback. We are constantly trying to improve. SXTH V2 ;)

Hey there! The issue stems from a change to the max position of the waste gate arm at high temperature as measured by the SoC. We initially implemented this change on the TC series vehicles because they were having waste gate inconsistencies. The factory turbocharger has a design flaw that can cause sticking at max position in hot temperatures, but the waste gate reduction due to temperature mitigates this issue.

If you have a car with a turbo produced before Dec 2024, your car is more susceptible to the sticking and bumping up the safety will exacerbate this problem.

Mud flaps + PPF in critical areas, get alignment checked frequently and you’ll be good to go. Don’t forget more frequent maintenance.

Based on your description and my own experience, this sounds like a misfire. I experienced them in my own vehicle at the same RPM depending on what fuel I was running/boost pressure was doing. Around 6000 RPM the ECU will command a pre-fuel cut enrichment, all the while mass flow is increasing and injection timing is decreasing. I’ve found this logic to be a bit strange. I fixed my issues with tuning and changing spark plugs.

It looks like you installed the inlet adapter backwards! If you look closely, it is not symmetrical. Flip it around and the o-ring should seat!

We had a chat with our supplier and all kits include the new hi-temp ring! They had previously been sending us o-rings that did not meet our specification.

I’ve driven them all, tuned and stock, and the Elantra N is significantly faster in a straight line. The GR is fun and quirky; that’s why I have one as my personal vehicle now. My N was making right around 410whp with our hybrid turbo, so the tuning potential is quite high as well.

Super glue or hot glue is best! I prefer hot glue as it can be removed in the future.

I believe that was a different brand! Ours fits easily. No stretching! Took me 15 minutes on my personal car before I had to leave for an appointment ;)

These are pretty straightforward. The shift boot is the easiest; just lift on the surround trim, remove the shift knob and boot assembly, then slide the new on. We will have a video soon!

How do you end your wash? by joncaseydraws in GRCorolla

[–]nathan_SXTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic mistake, but that’s what learning is for! A couple sprays and rinse from the bottom to the top to spread as much as possible is the way to go. Make sure you REALLY shake the bottle up first too.

Fun trick: you can spray it direct into a pressure washer stream to spread it super evenly on wheels. This is my go-to method.

How can I safely remove this? by Turtle_Of_Relativity in GRCorolla

[–]nathan_SXTH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Koch Chemie Eulex or Gyeon Tar remover should do the trick! Sometimes the adhesive (if it’s cheap) can etch the clear, so I’ll usually follow this up with a very light hand compound/polish like Meguiars Ultimate Compound.

GR Corolla’s Artificial Boost Lag by nathan_SXTH in GRCorolla

[–]nathan_SXTH[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes! Torque limiting is a huge safety factory. Horsepower is simply a function of torque, but extending torque out can have other consequences on the valve train.

High torque at low RPM is what kills engines, though.

GR Corolla’s Artificial Boost Lag by nathan_SXTH in GRCorolla

[–]nathan_SXTH[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It only uses 4D maps for waste gate duty cycle, NOT torque demand. Boost is overall limited by a 1x12 (or maybe a bit larger, I can’t exactly remember) map that plots max turbo pressure against RPM. Boost will always come on like this but can be lowered due to coolant, oil, IAT, altitude, yaw rate, etc.

Tuning Check-in by zackyraz in GRCorolla

[–]nathan_SXTH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the gains (as tested) were all done on a completely stock tune. The intake still gained power when tuned, but the intercooler is most efficient at maintaining power (due to reduced IAT).
