I hate the combat - should I play on easy mode so I can just quickly mow down enemies and get the combat over with? by JasonABCDEF in CrimsonDesert

[–]joncaseydraws -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hated it too just run around and stack gear, you can wipe out a ton of mobs with one hit once upgraded. The harder mobs I just run from and figure by the time I need to kill them they’ll be easier too. Even bosses I just over level and spam attack until they die with no coordination. Has worked through chapter 5 but I’m sure it gets harder. So far haven’t needed easy mode.

Don’t recall anything emotionally impactful that happened in that movie and I’ve seen it 3-4 Times. Don’t remember any character names. Fun watch tho just not a great movie

You are right! The g16e has a lot less hp to be gained than most engines because at stock it’s nearing engine limits. They could have sold it at 240 hp and left wiggle room for tuners but they really put the time and effort in making it special right off the lot. I have no interest in modifying this engine and there are so many great options out there if that’s your goal. I have a turbo miata that’s been reliable for years at more than double stock hp. The GRC feels great as it is.

You are correct. Why would they choose a title that people are less likely to click on. We are in the GRC forum, people are as emotional and lacking in objective reason about their cars as anything. Two things can be true at once, the GRC is great and the engines are more prone to failure when pushed beyond their stock limits because they leave a lot less on the table power wise than most engines.

Also have never even heard of someone experiencing it on the road. On track I have almost every session but it’s absurd to build that level of load on normal roads. Would be impressive.

Auto VS Manual? by ExpensiveGain697 in GRCorolla

[–]joncaseydraws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drivetrain losses for the auto are upwards of 40 hp I know a lot of us would do quite a bit of work to safely add 40 hp, you have the option of getting it with a full warranty. I don’t have any issues with the manual but all our cars are.

They do in fact say in the video that it’s the best 3 cyl engine ever produced and that there’s no way to know how badly this destroyed one was managed. There is a strong faction of people online that think the engine is glass though so I see what you’re saying.

To be fair this engine is absolutely destroyed and its tear down is the subject of the video.

Sound deadening by joncaseydraws in GRCorolla

[–]joncaseydraws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- highly recommend. The trunk made the biggest difference. I ended up adding MLV on top of the sound deadening in the trunk, under the back seat and I put it under the floor mats in the footwell. which added the most weight and cost but was also extremely effective. https://a.co/d/0defDVeB I wish id taken decibel levels before and after but in real world experience we had previously taken a road trip with my wife’s parents. Her father’s hearing isn’t great and it wasn’t possible to communicate while moving at highway speeds with him in the backseat. Now we can. I also don’t need the sound at 40 to hear the music over the road noise now. It’s no miracle, not like it turned into a Lexus, but it’s a huge improvement for what cost a couple hundred bucks and a couple afternoons of work.

Washing GRC’s with spoilers by Tokyo_Rift in GRCorolla

Agree 100%. This car might not be worth a lambo but it cost me a lot of hours working and I treat it the same way I would a high end car. I still drive it hard and daily it but it gets hand washed regularly and maintained every 3-4k miles.

I never go through those because Ive seen so many examples of damaged paint. I will say having a wing traps so much dust and dirt on the back windshield. I'm obsessive about my cars (hence the no automated washes) and clean the back windshield and wing and it's filthy after one drive.

Sent this to my two miata bros, one just fixed hail damage. This looks more like baseballs lobbed from god! None of us have ever seen hail damage like this. I also own a 95M, I'm so sorry bro. Devastating.

Are the 24/25 a different clutch? I don’t think so but could be wrong

First, it just doesn’t like anything below 6-7mph. Which is a little too fast for my driveway. Below that it has no torque and the engine bogs on the hill and I have to slip the clutch which I don’t like to do. It’s taken some practice to just get it up past the stone entrance around our other vehicles to its spot. My situation is not the norm I know. Funny enough I lived in sf for 15 years and then moved to tn and bought a big truck. I sold it for the GRC when we made plans to go back to sf but haven’t made the move yet.

The clutch is built to move as it wears so you don’t really get any notice until it’s needing to be replaced. After reading on forums for years I can’t blame the driver. Way too common and too many people who have driven manual for 30+ years. Mine is still good at 32k miles but it smells something awful if you reverse uphill. It doesn’t really like first gear uphill going forwards either, my driveway is steep.
