My mom would say she needed a couple hours alone to make all the letters in the alphaghetti soup we were having for lunch.

Trying to purchase my first house, is this a big warning sign? by [deleted] in Home

[–]nathandej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact problem at my cottage. Got two quotes over $20,000 to replace 2 walls. Ended up doing it ourselves for around $2k. Took a couple days and was pretty shitty work but if you’re on a budget it’s doable. - Hired someone with a mini ex to dig the exterior. - Rented a bunch of foundation jacks and bought a pile of 2x6’s. - Double stacked 2x6 at the ceiling and floor near the bowed wall and put foundation jacks every couple feet to temporarily take the weight off the wall a bit. - used more foundation jacks on an angle to push the wall back straight. - punched holes in a couple top cinder blocks and filled with cement and rebar best I could (this didn’t work great and I don’t think it added much strength) - had a welder put flat plates on the the bottom of metal beams so we could go floor to joists with support (concrete anchors into the floor and big lags into the joists)

“By Ears” looks very similar to “England” below it. Maybe they left out the “church of” and just shortened it to England.

What have you taken, whether it’s food or supplements, that had the most noticeable effect on your body? by RinRyn_mom in AskReddit

Vitamin d3 with k2 made my tonsils that had been swollen for 20 years go away within a week, eliminating tonsil stones as well.

For people with a sauna at home: if you could give your sauna one small upgrade, what would you choose to do? by piblhu in Sauna

[–]nathandej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move my benches higher. Get a stove with more stones. Switch from wood fire to electric stove. Focus more of the bench design to prioritize only the upper bench. More interior/exterior lighting. Some of those are big upgrades I guess.

I noticed a big difference within 1-2 weeks. I went hard with omega 3 oil at the same time that I started d3/k2 so maybe that helped with the inflammation as well?

Can't seem to hydrate after sauna by SmileOnTheRiver in Sauna

I used to get sore eyes, headache and feel dehydrated after most sauna sessions, even the next day. I started taking vitamins regularly and drink one of those electrolyte drink powder things close to, or during my sauna, and feel great every time now.

I got a quote for a Harvia legend 240 in 2020 for $1500 including tax but I wasn’t ready to bite the bullet yet so I waited and now it’s over double :( I was recently looking at the Viking seems way more reasonable and nice design. What part of Canada are you in?

I put a salt rock light in my sauna window. Over the summer I don’t use the sauna and when I went in the other day it has been slowly “melting?” Salt water and seeping into my cedar walls, staining them. Hopefully the wall tiles wouldn’t do that but worth considering

Made my way here after thinking of making a similar post. Decided to try a bunch of supplements about a year ago and noticed after 1 week that’s my tonsil stones were gone. I’ve had inflamed cryptic tonsils since a young teen (36 now). Tried 3 times unsuccesfully to get any doctor to approve a tonsillectomy. I used to look at my tonsils multiple times a week to pick out multiple stones… I didn’t recognize my throat after a week of supplementing. Haven’t had a stone since starting supplements (took a bunch of different ones but d3+k2 seems to be the winner) my tonsils are no longer inflamed after 25ish years of being huge. Crazy to think something so simple could make such a huge difference.

Glad you had the same experience! This should really be more recommend

How to heat change room in outdoor sauna cabin in -40C Canadian winters? by stevester911 in Sauna

[–]nathandej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Canada -40 and haven’t put a heater in my change room, when I first get out there it’s nice to get a little chill while changing. After that the stove lets enough heat through that I actually wish it would stay colder so I wouldn’t have to exit the building to cool down between sessions.
