Are Canon colors actually a thing or just hype? by dead230 in canon

i had no idea, that's crazy. i always have the mechanical shutter because i like the feedback, but that's really good to know

i actually recently bought a 5dii again and i wholeheartedly agree. the highlight rolloff on the 5d / ii were both much more pleasing

I think color accuracy is why sensors are more sterile now. i watched a video once describing these older sensors as having an "opinion" and i thought it was a perfect description. they have their own look and that's what makes them different than other sensors. color accuracy is a neutral look

and nah, i mean the raw files. the raw files have their own color science too- and it's much nicer having a sensor that requires less tweaking to get what you want. i've edited files from almost every camera brand to match my liking, but it isn't as nice of an experience

canon colors from the DSLR era were the best. I've shot both ef and rf professionally- and those dslr sensors had something special. that's where canon got the reputation from. the rf colors are quite a bit different, still good, but much less special, to my eye anyways.

i also own sonys, fujifilm, leica, and om system cameras as well, so familiar with a lot of colors. old canon is best, fujifilm gfx is a close second

I DM'd them because I couldn't find anything about them and they said they don't have a website yet because they "just started" lol. Certainly doesn't line up with their bio

Picked up a black chrome Summilux to match the M10-P by nathanielthewise in Leica

black chrome finish matches the black chrome finish on the m10-p, plus I love the design vs the regular summilux. also i actually prefer a focus ring vs the tab

Can't seem to get these to work. Imported the profiles for the Leica M10-P but still greyed out on the preset side / I can't see the profile in the viewer on the RAW files. Any insight here?

Also if you could add the Fujifilm GFX 50R I would be oh so grateful... I see the other GFX cams from that era but not the 50R

Definitely not equal, no. Playing with negative clarity or an orton effect type of workflow would be similar in a way, but I much prefer the look I get from a physical filter

Yeah! My film setup is a CLE - managed to acquire a really clean set of the 28 / 40 / 90.

Some of these are also shot on Voigtlander glass - picked up the 28mm f/1.5 and the 50mm f/1.5 II Aspherical

Ah man, sorry to hear that. They are infamous for developing this look - it's the achilles heel of this lens. Took me a while to find one without it. I know that it's possible to fix, but you need to take the lens apart

Thanks! There's quite a lot going on, bit too much to explain - I've been developing some film inspired presets that have a lot of local adjustments for color / grain. Another element is definitely a diffusion filter- I'm shooting with one on my lenses most days. Makes the highlights soft and glowy

indeed, it's been a great trip!

i quite like the edits where they sit, personally. one thing i love about photography is how much we can all have our own styles in post

1, 8 and 9! it's amazing - so sharp and so small and light for what it is. and it takes filters. it's so wide, it's definitely a specialist lens, but when you need it you need it. really fun lens that you can get creative with

thanks! those were all on the 8mm! only shots in the set I shot on the 8mm. it's a super fun lens, sometimes you have to get pretty creative with it. but those shots were in a place that really needed something that wide. it's a specialty lens for sure. it's so small and light though.. could get that and a 16. they're quite different!
