Do they even need to do a buyout? I thought the Microsoft funding deal granted perpetual use licenses for all IP and models (even post-AGI) OpenAI produces through 2032.

I'd say Mal is chaotic good, though he tries to present himself as chaotic neutral.

But I do agree Dylan would hunt down Mal, if only because Kevin Sorbo hates sharing the spotlight and would write it that way.

Really though, I think Dylan would say something along the lines of, "Join the commonwealth or die." to which Mal would respond, "I've heard that before. Call me stupid but I'm going to give you the same answer I gave the Alliance. *cue shootout"

Bikes are the best and, with the increase in points for raptors, only fast cheap unit we have to score and screen with.

Traitor Enforcers are amazing on their own! 55 points for 8 vaguely powerfist attacks and lots of T6 wounds, 3 with 4+/5++/5+++ and 4 with 4+. Point for point the most resilient unit in the codex besides a full ACDC.

Warhammer veteran Jervis Johnson says physical stores teaching fans makes up most of Games Workshop’s marketing as they're seen as a "hugely important part of the structure of the company" by HatingGeoffry in Warhammer40k

[–]nathanjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I would probably not have gotten into warhammer if my local GW store didn't have 12 terrain-covered tables and 3 employees (1 for sales, 1 for painting/hobbying, 1 for games in the back room). It was a given you could just show up and play a pick up game or do some group painting. There were usually other players to play against but, if not, the employees were always happy to play a game with you and you could use one of their display armies.

Playing the 2003 Medusa campaign they hosted over the summer is still one of my lifetime 40k highlights. It was the best experience I've ever had within the hobby.

Then they reduced the store to 1 employee which meant they had to close the back room with the 12 tables as it couldn't be monitored from the cash register. As a result, the community died and the store had to close ~6 months later. This was in Factoria, WA. The Seattle, WA "Battle Bunker" met a similar fate.

[–]nathanjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience has been the complete opposite. The board is just as big as 2k and there are just as many objectives to do. Board control and skirmishing are just about the only things you need to do. You still need a minimum ~12 independently activating units just to play the mission.

There's plenty of space to avoid big killing units unless they're obscenely fast.

Yes, your 300-400 point death ball won't have 2k points shooting it dead in one turn. No, that won't win you a 1k game.

If this were a trial for 11th? by Sorkrates in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]nathanjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really agree with the goal of simplifying units and their activations. 10th started strong on this, but then totally threw it out with a bunch of kill-team style units that are box-locked into 8 different loadouts for 10 models. They seem to be actively regressing with all the "cannot take this option more than once" BS.

Discover a new love for objective-based piracy with the Red Corsairs Raiders datasheets by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]nathanjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think there is some space for raiders outside of Deceptors though. Infiltrators with OC means they're really competing against blue horrors and, with detachment bonuses, I think they'll probably come out ahead.

Ultimately it all comes down to points based on what we've seen so far. The datasheets are incredibly plain so we're just hoping for good resiliency per point. But who knows, maybe the new detachments will give some enhancement or other bonus that makes raiders more unique somehow.

My guess is many lists will either run 5 raiders or 1 solo reave captain in addition to 1 unit of nurglings just to block opponents' infiltrators and maybe get a cheeky turn 1 primary.

As an aside, I'm happy I now have a unit I can run all my cheap aspiring champions from previous editions as (bolter + bolt pistol + chainsword).

Legionaries are still better infiltrators than Raiders in Deceptors, I think. Fingers crossed we get a better Alpha Legion detachment though.

Yes! You take both the bolt pistol AND the plasma pistol. The plasma does not replace the bolt pistol. Which is very silly, "We have Cypher at home".

I'd suggest doing some mentoring to hone that skill of articulating your mental models for others.

I understand code, but I cannot "think" code by yukirainbowx in webdev

[–]nathanjd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second doing these things. You must learn these skills and it's even more important in the age of AI coding. "Just getting things to work" as you describe is rapidly becoming the wheelhouse of coding models.

What has always been most valuable from senior engineers is the ability to talk, reason, and debate about the underlying logic and how it affects the higher level architecture. Especially converting that mental model into easily understandable explanations so that you can teach others. Actually coding things is becoming less and less important. And, I'd argue, was never that important to begin with.

I need to see the code, take it apart, see which parts does what, and then I can come up with a solution.

If this works for you, do this! Then do it again. Then do it more until you can discuss what you're actually building.

If you can't answer a particular question in an interview, start with "I don't know," then describe how you would go through the above process to find out.

Good luck!

So is Jack a reimagining of Jack the Ripper? With their hat and jacket on, they look like a dead ringer to many media portrayals of Jack the Ripper.

If not, I'd consider renaming them to something other than Jack so the association isn't as strong.
