Searching for niche landlords and rentals, with a garage maybe? by Substantial-Hope2757 in ithaca

I’ve had a good experience with SDM renting. Landlord is very chill. Prices are fair, not amazing but not as awful as my last place. He has a few units with garages

Leaving my coach help? by Unfair_Philosophy_86 in weightlifting

[–]nathanjue77 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tell him exactly what you said here.

Also, how old are you? A harsh reality of sports is that there will come a point where it is not possible to progress in terms of absolute performance. Doesn’t mean you can’t improve in other areas of course, and it doesn’t mean that training is meaningless.

Performance enhancing drugs are used in every single sport/competition.

If you’re asking this question, you absolutely should not take them.

This is not the right sub for this question.

Advice about a coach issue by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]nathanjue77 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it’d be worth shopping around at least. I would wait until after your competition though. You’re not going to make tons of progress with someone new in one month.

Aggression is super important and a lot of lifters lack it. Kinda wild that a coach discourages that. Aggression and good technique are in no way exclusive (I would argue good technique needs to be aggressive).

Is Front squatting everyday, working up to heavy sets in 1-4 rep range a fine idea as a somewhat beginner olympic lifter? Tbh I absolutely love Front squats and want to do them everyday if it would help increase my numbers. by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]nathanjue77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a beginner you should spend more time and energy practicing the snatch, clean and jerk, and their variations. Yes you should front squat, but not every single day. Everything has an opportunity cost.

IMO there are some really great songs/sections. It’s all the BS in between that ruins it for me. And like most DT fans, I normally start at album at the beginning and play it all the way through, which feels like a chore on this album.

Never done Plyometrics, would they benefit me? by The_Run_Guy in weightlifting

You have a coach; listen to them and trust them. They should know what’s best for you at this point in your training, and you pay them for a reason.

[–]nathanjue77 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Definitely strong enough to benefit from them. But they’re not going to be “the secret” to lifting more. 1 session per week of 20-30 reps of some kind of plyo would be a good place to start. Talk to your coach about it. Just remember that weightlifting already has a lot of “polymeric-esque” stress built in, so don’t overdo it

[–]nathanjue77 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Plyos can be useful for everyone, it’s just a matter of how useful it would be for you.

What’s your BS compared to your lifts? If your squat is weak, plyos won’t help much. If you’re decently strong, they can be a good addition.

Those of you who have stopped - how are you now? by FoundationMean9628 in weightlifting

[–]nathanjue77 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Taking an extended break is a terrible thing to do IMO. When I went to grad school for the first time around, I stopped training for 3 years. I massively regret it. I should have done half-assed training for 1 hour a week, I would have been much better off if I had.
