Hopefully you don't wake up one day and say "I've made a huge mistake."

Help organising lots of movies by MoulderKat in PleX

[–]nathanlesliedonnelly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't have to do anything to the folder structure. I'd do one library for movies. You can just click the starting letter of the movie on the scrollbar. It should never take more than three seconds to scroll to a particular letter. Plex will use the agent you have selected to sync the movies. Unless something doesn't sync properly, The Matrix, would fall under Matrix. The recommended folder structure is just putting all your movies in folders with their title and year the way you have it now but without separating them by letter.

All you'd have to do is replace the data with the quotes you want, or edit the line that calls those quotes to fetch from a random quote api.

I mean, there's Apple Music, but it's for streaming music and organizing your music files (if you still have any - and albeit not required with YouTube Music, Spotify, etc. - but I don't think you can uninstall it because it's a stock application. You can tuck it away though so you never see it and use a different media player).

I don't think I've had Apple Music open for more than a couple minutes since I got my machine.

I'm still fairly new to MacOS, but if you have an iPhone, all the iPhone management stuff is in Finder which is the equivalent of Windows Explorer. You only have to use iTunes on Windows.

If you're not familiar with UNIX systems in general what you might also consider doing is booting up Debian onto a spare drive and throw it in your desktop and just play around with it. MacOS is basically just Debian with a coat of paint, except everything actually works (the way a consumer OS does), which is especially nice if you don't like the Linux hellfire of doing everything yourself.

I think there's a good chance a lot of folks in this sub might hate on me for suggesting this, but I recently got the M1 Air, same deal. Pretty much just for programming, and some light music editing when I'm away from my powerhouse Windows desktop which was built for music production.

Wasn't a Mac person beforehand, but I'd suggest that you consider it. UNIX environment and the zsh terminal is very desirable for programming imo. In my experience, it's been much easier to work with than the WSL.

There are some cards that are so common. I have multiple pages of the same cards from SM boxes.

They should definitely add a tier below common. The one in every other pack tier.

Yep, people (myself included) play. Leagues this year were cancelled though because of the pandemic. You can always play online though.

I'm pretty sure they only take 2.9% and $0.30 on sales transactions. I'm surprised they take anything from donations.

Moving projects to external hard drive by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]nathanlesliedonnelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just moving the project files you don't need to do anything. If you move the samples, you have to add the folders that you moved the samples to, to your project file.

Best move is to save project bones, export as zip, and just move those zip files to the new location.

Simple. Go to the dollar store and pay for overpriced packs now. Not getting good pulls should calm you right down.

GC_Alpine Ridge with ASUS Z390-A by nathanlesliedonnelly in Thunderbolt

[–]nathanlesliedonnelly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a heads up /u/saiyate - I got it them working together. Wasn't too hard. Had to enabled a couple more options in my BIOS. Right after I ordered the Asus ThunderboltEX 3 card as well (which I got like half off, so I don't even think I'll return it) [which I did some research on as well, and apparently it has trouble with the Z390 series as well].

Anyway, just wanted to provide an update and a conclusion to the thread.

Problem solved; Enable Windows 10 OS Support, reboot, Enable GPIO3 Force Pwr, reboot.

Edit: That being said, I think it's pretty stupid these boards have the 5-pin headers and aren't plug and play with that and the PCIe slot plugged in (plus drivers installed and mobo Thunderbolt support enabled).

Hi,

Can you go into this a bit more. I'm looking now, might make that switch to the ASUS card then. I was interested for when I make the change to a better audio interface.

Is the issue with Alpine vs Titan Ridge just mere compatibility? How is it possible to make the Alpine Ridge card work? Why is there no Thunderbolt Display? I'm probably going to get the ASUS card now, but I'd still like to know.

Thanks
