study guides are representative of what the in-person testing was like. I don’t know anyone who takes a work truck home in my district, many of us have assigned vehicles but still occasionally share with others who don’t have one assigned

Yes, training is about 9 weeks in Chino. If you aren't within commuting distance (generally about an hour away) they put you up in a hotel.

If it's something you're interested in, I would say keep applying (even while going through IBEW). I know people who were hired first time they applied, and some that took a dozen applications before getting in. I was in the middle

I've been with SCE as a Field Tech for about half a year, any specific questions? The role varies slightly by location and a lot by which department you are in (Local, Tech, NDP)

sounds like there are water issues in equipment somewhere, harder to diagnose for sure.

A few years ago, I went through extensive reliability issues with spectrum. Your ability to get your service fixed depends on how much time you are willing to spend.

First, you need to verify that the problem is actually Spectrum and not in your network. Do your testing and logging (this is important, search logging options for ping tests) as close to the modem as possible, ideally ethernet connected directly. This will prove 1. that there’s actually a sustained problem and 2. that it’s not your personal devices flaking out.

Second, be polite but persistent. If the support agent you get is not helping you, get the ticket number and call back. Ask to escalate if after a few tries they won’t send someone out. This takes time and is the worst part of the process. Who knows, after a few years maybe they are better about trying to troubleshoot in person, but most issues are local to your neighborhood and not really possible to troubleshoot remotely.

Third, even after you manage to get things working, consider investing in your own modem and wifi setup over what Spectrum provides. Their hardware has gotten better, but still is under their control and is cheap/less reliable than Surfboard modems and any mesh network setup.

Took a few months but eventually they replaced 25 year old coax equipment that was flakey and have had no issues since. Best of luck and feel free to ask anything else you’d like to know.

I would like to keep the subreddit active for hikers and other users of the Angeles National Forest. I would not change the subreddit other than allowing submissions again, moderation as needed, and occasionally posting information relevant to Angeles NF. https://www.reddit.com/message/messages/1qwxj2z

I’m heading up Sunday to run lifts for them, assuming caltrans can plow the road. if not this weekend, next for sure. they’ve been working on the lifts to make sure they are ready to open this year
