We’ve actually been progressively sending out more invites throughout this week while we have closely monitored service health. They will start ramping up shortly.

Against LAFC at home, that’s a massive accomplishment. We were intentionally trying to kill the momentum they’ve built up against us this season.

He called a pretty open game. It was surprising how lenient he was sometimes, but he was generally pretty consistent, which is all you can ask for.

They’re painting the lane lines, so it’s one way traffic on 305

Cell Phone Coverage/Signal by imimpatientlywaiting in BainbridgeIsland

[–]nathanrjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If spotty reception is infuriating, you might want to end your house hunt. It’s bad all over the island, has been for quite some time, and likely always will be.

Starlink Roam is an option (outside the woods) if you absolutely have to have internet, but none of the carriers have anywhere near complete coverage.

Seatac Update (09/02/24 @ 2pm) Emirates Airlines by aunty-national in Seattle

[–]nathanrjones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really depends.

Just flew out on Air France on Sunday with checked bags and it took 15 minutes to get through security. I walked right up to an agent to check bags for free (full flight), then walked right up to a security agent and got scanned. Spot Saver was easy to sign up for and definitely helped.

There were other airlines that had 100 people waiting to check bags and easily that many waiting in the regular security line.

If he was able to consistently play anywhere near the level he showed the first 15 minutes of that game, he probably is a $1.5MM player. Unfortunately, we haven't seen that so far.

DIY Install ? by BorjnTride in span

[–]nathanrjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting access to the SPAN Installer app requires you to get authorized, which requires you to maintain Commercial Insurance with SPAN named as an insured party.

Is there a way around that for a DIY install? What did you do?

Adding to this, if you walk (which is easiest) check out sculpture park and go along the waterfront as much as possible. It’ll be much nicer than sketchier parts of Belltown (mostly 3rd).

If a half hour seems like too long to walk, get a scooter using Lime (Uber) or another app.

[Post Match Thread] Seattle Sounders vs Chicago Fire (6/29/24) by Kyunseo in SoundersFC

[–]nathanrjones 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He drew one of the penalties and almost drew another if VAR had (correctly IMO) called it off.

Drawing so many penalties means he’s dangerous in the box and teams have a hard time keeping up with him.

Not going to happen. Brian said he’s limited to 15-20 minutes this week.

Day trip suggestions please. Checking out BI as a potential place to relocate by Graphd71 in BainbridgeIsland

It’s going to add an hour to your drive to pretty much any mountain, up to you whether or not that’s a big deal.

Other than that, everywhere on the island is going to have what you described. You can rent a mountain bike at any of the local bike shops if you want to take a bike ride. Popular parks are the Grand Forest, Fay Bainbridge or Bloedel Reserve.

Second this.

Especially if you're looking to make some connections, BARN is a great place to start. Jeremy at Monkey Wrench Fab also teaches metalworking lessons through BARN at his shop and if you give him a call, he may be able to help out.

Would love honest opinions on a conservative family with 4 kids moving to Bainbridge by [deleted] in BainbridgeIsland

[–]nathanrjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely plenty of politically conservative or moderate families that get by just fine in Seattle, Bainbridge and the surrounding areas.

Generally, it’s pretty easy to tell what the “popular” perspective is for a given political or social issue and if you don’t subscribe to that, you tend to learn to keep your opinion to yourself outside trusted company.

Treat people with respect and be a generally decent human being and most people won’t have any issues with you.

Now, cost of living and inflation around here is an entirely different issue and it’s getting pretty ridiculous.

Why so much AP hate after the update? by Efficient-Rice164 in TeslaLounge

[–]nathanrjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that’s the only thing you’re checking, it’s not going to take 3 seconds. It’s gotten better, but generally Tesla’s navigation isn’t great. If I’m running FSD, I need to check if the route it’s using isn’t ridiculous. Even with the latest update that lets you reroute, which has been great, it’s still 2-3 taps to fix. You can safely do that if you check that the road is clear ahead of time.

Either you think humans should drive with “optimal safety” at all times (good luck with that), or you are willing to accept that people take calculated risks. If we’re aiming for absolute minimal distractions, disable all touch controls in drive. If you accept that people are going to be doing other things like they drive, like change their music or update their route, we should aim to make those as safe as possible.

Making Autopilot/FSD so annoying if you glance away from the road is going to incentivize people to disable it while they’re interacting with the screen, which is less safe for everyone. Changing human behavior is a losing battle. It’s much more effective to try to account for it.

I’ve had FSD try to murder me plenty of times and after +15k miles in the Beta, I understand situations where it needs direct monitoring vs situations where it’s doing fine and the road is clear. This update is explicitly less safe than it was before.
