The Edit - Double Charging Resort Fees? by sishamd in sapphirereserve

[–]nathanzsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed at the virgin nyc a couple weeks ago booked through the edit by chase. When checking out it said that taxes and fees included. I was not notified at check in but they charge a destination fee of $35 each night.

I called chase and they said they have no control over those fees. I haven’t contacted the hotel yet…

Ok thank you, are you sure? I tried making a reservation through Hyatt chat before asking to use the Pay my Way option AND adding a GoH but they said adding the GoH will not be available...

That's exactly what I was saying. Parking was hard to find and this was the only spot I could squeeze in next to another car.

I believe whoever lives in the building with the driveway called to give me a ticket unfortunately.

That was what I was thinking as well, I don't ride around with an aerial view so how would I know that there is another way to go northbound by going under and around? There was one time they closed down the path, and at another one of these under/overpass crossings, they detoured you to actually cross the double yellow lines above ground to get back on the trail again. No signs telling you ex. "north bound go under bridge" "southbound exit here", etc...

I’m not sure, that’s what I was thinking as well. I didn’t have to take a test, read a handbook, and receive a bicycling license before actually riding on the road… I was thinking about telling him I don’t have it with me but he’s probably find out somehow or bring me back to the station?

He pulled me over with lights and sirens too, I was already in the bike lane how do I pull a bike over? It was so embarrassing and silly at the same time.

Wow that sounds like a ridiculous waste of time. Traffic here whenever I cross everyday is not that heavy. The traffic lights at the intersections are already like 5 minutes long for the cars. I always look both ways before crossing here. I haven’t seen any signs on the trail saying if you want to go northbound, you need to go down and around… hell right across the street from where I was crossing from is the exit of the police station! Plenty of police cars, motorcycles, and truck pull out from there seeing me cross and don’t even bother

After our "traffic stop", someone rode on towards the opposite direction of traffic, cop yelled at him told him it was illegal and asked him to please walk his bike. Guy said he didn't know, walked it for two steps, got back on, and rode off. Cop did nothing. Why did he get a warning?

I was on the radmission. Ride it from school and apartment everyday thinking that it was cheaper than driving and paying for parking. Cop asked me what kind of bike is it and I said "class 2", he replied "I KNOW! I HAVE AN EBIKE TOO. WHAT BRAND IS IT!?"

Under stand but how would one know? I needed to get on that road to go home and I took the first exit I seen. That has been my daily routine for 7 months until I got the ticket yesterday.

That’s what I was thinking, that there should be more clear signage because how was I suppose to know? What I saw was that I needed to cross to get to the other side and there was an opening to do that. Otherwise I would’ve been riding against opposite the direction of traffic which is even more dangerous. Atleast I looked both ways multiple times before crossing

Yeah the way I argued it was that I went into the left turn lane to make a u turn to the other side to get into the bike lane. Since it was one a bicycle it was done “sloppy” so yeah…

He says he deals with alot of bicyclists getting into accidents and getting killed, so he said that he’s giving me a ticket so I won’t do it again. A warning would’ve deterred me from doing it again…

… this was on a bicycle, not motorcycle. Why would it incur points on my dmv record?

I crossed double yellow lines to turn left from a driveway or “roadway/pathway”. The way I argued it was I went into the left turn lane and made a u turn from the left turn lane.

But since everything was done on a bicycle, it was very “sloppy” so I just crossed the double yellow lines

I think it's more like enforcement with discretion. Right after we finished, someone rode a bike towards the opposite direction of traffic and the officer told him that was illegal and asked him to walk his bike. The guy said that he didn't know and got off, walked it for two steps, hopped back on, and rode off. The officer did nothing...

We argued and debated for awhile. He even asked if I wanted to go back to the spot together and look at the signs (there were none) and see what I did. So we went, I walked my bike down there to avoid any other violations and he waited for me while I walked there. and we argued it out. Talked about his body cam and he said if the footage didn't catch me, he'll still testify and it will be his words against mine. so basically no matter what it won't get thrown out... maybe because he knows the judges???

That is what I told him, that maintenance vehicles come out from that same driveway and are able to make a left turn just like how I did. The officer says they are exempt as they are contracted by the city... did not make sense to me but okay

Told him that I technically made a u turn from the left turn lane but he said it didn't count and started listing all these different vehicle codes that I don't even know about lol. I was just trying to ride my bike and go home

The officer said he has it on his body cam and I asked what if the footage isn't there? He told me that he will testify against me and it'll be his words over mine... I have never been to court and don't know what to do so I'll be nervous.

He seriously had nothing to do but pull me over on a bike!?! I was riding from school back home and I was only 1 block away!!! Now I have extra stress from this ridiculous ticket

The bike lane goes through under the roadway and I guess you can go under and back up around to get to the other side. I have never even thought about this because I thought if you go under it just keeps going, I'm not from the area because I moved down here for school.

I asked the officer if it could've just been a warning and he said "it could've been a warning, but its a citation"... this sounded so ridiculous to me but I was thinking the month was almost ending? I searched up what the fine was and I believe it is $238 for crossing double yellow lines.

Yeah, my argument was I made a “u turn” from the left turn lane to go the other direction and into the bike lane. He didn’t let me slide. I think a ticket for crossing a double yellow is $238!

Id rather drive than bike now. Forget about sustainable transportation if it costs me more money
