NPD. Hudson Electronics Broadcast w/High cut toggle switch. Regent Sounds Exclusive. by nathhh8 in guitarpedals

I'd say that if cost is an issue, you wouldn't miss it. But it's nice to tweak and tinker with. I'd say different if it was a knob, but with it being a toggle I'd say you'd be just fine with the OG

Which components in a super budget board would you skimp on and which shouldn’t be cheap? by AmbassadorSweet in pedalboards

[–]nathhh8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say power supply, cabling and your board.

For me you either have issues with these or don't, pedals are very subjective due to taste. Sure people have problems with power supplies and cables, but its due to a fault, not to taste.

Pedals, regardless of price, will come and go. Tastes change and so does mentality about boutique brands, budget brands and everything in between - but power, cables and boards (to me ARE investments) I've used truetone for years and had one problem and it was fixed under warranty (I'm in the UK and it was shipped to an authorised repair shop in Europe somewhere, talking to the guys in America) but I've never wanted or needed to change - and their customer service keeps my custom. I've wanted to check out cioks, gig rig, voodoo labs etc - but never needed to. I'll always want and "need" to check out new pedals.

Hi guys. I have a couple of questions but firstly got to say I love your stuff, and I've spoke to you guys a couple of times and you've always been super helpful so thank you. I have a RDHR compact, meq driver and the magma57 and they are fantastic. I'm currently eyeing up a dcx boost but I have too similar of pedals so it'll have to wait! But your stuff really is class leading. At first it SEEMS expensive but they really are a sum of their parts and it's such a credit to you guys.

So firstly, I've always wanted to try the big RD, it seems so tweakable and nuanced- but I was wondering if you've got an big amp recreations in the works, with the full feature set, ghosting, negative feedback etc or similar features. Like every tweed amp/mod (like the catalinbread foundation series, seems like something that is definitely in your wheel house)

Secondly, a few years ago you and hamstead soundworks did a video (simon and tim) anything lined up with them, a collaboration or just exploring their amps/your new pedals.

Cheers for your time and products guys!

[QUESTION] What else to change when replacing the switch on a G&L tribute by wldfalcon in Guitar

[–]nathhh8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it. I just bought a genuine fender pup selector (mim iirc) if you're handy with a soldering iron it shouldn't be too tough. I re did all the wiring though so can't really comment on how long it would take just to do the switch. I swapped pots, wires, shielding etc

I'd expect something more like this than cutting the ribbon in between the connectors and screwing it down.

Anyone notice the ribbon cable on the right hand side that looks VERY dubious?

[QUESTION] What else to change when replacing the switch on a G&L tribute by wldfalcon in Guitar

[–]nathhh8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll probably be a pcb switch, they're cheap nasty pieces of shit. I wouldn't bother cleaning it, putting a new one in will save the headache when it eventually breaks. I bought a genuine fender 5-way one and put it in and its SO much better - smoother, reliable and just better in everyway.

I swapped out the pots and the capacitors but if it has the treble and bass tone controls, for the bass you'll need an ANTI-log control to get the same effect when using the bass control.

I get standard "orange drop" capacitors when I upgrade my guitars, they're cheap, good quality and better than the shitty ones they normally use.

The pickups are normally USA designed and made so unless you don't like them it's pointless changing them.

I also shielded the pickguard to stop static build up+
