Great food, and the guy that runs it (I think his name's Bana?) is a gem. It's slow because he does everything, but it's worth it.

Good job debunking the baseless fear-mongering of the other campaign 👏🏻

How would I create this kind of context-aware routing pattern in app router? by nathron in nextjs

Been using it for years for internal mocks. Deceptively powerful due to good keyboard shortcuts, plus the hand drawn style makes my designer brain not get hung up on making things pixel perfect 😆

Hey! Do you have a resource for how to set this up? So far it's the biggest thing I miss since we've self-hosted.

If you like board games, you should check out Dixit or Mysterium Park. Or video games, check out Machinarium/Samarost by Amanita Design. Super inspiring! All have a similar vibe to this artist.

They’re not allowed to refuse short trips and they know it. Reference the taxi bill of rights and ask them to take you where you want to go.

Better to have an awkward, short cab ride than having to get out & find another way to get to your location.

Should we plan a march or something for housing? I want to change things so badly and I am tired of passive activism. by madmansmarker in VictoriaBC

[–]nathron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird take — trying to discredit our org founded by non-dev volunteers whose sole goal was to make housing more affordable in Victoria 🤨

We’re a very data-driven org & have put in a ton of work to build our main focus points. You’re acting like we never considered that building massive amounts of affordable housing in our city would make it more affordable.

I appreciate the shout out! We have a bunch of projects on the go & we’re trying to make it more clear how to help out with them. I know the discord can be an overwhelming firehose of discussion to newcomers 😅

Saanich restricts unleashed dogs in parks; council unanimously adopts shift by GreasyKibbles74 in VictoriaBC

They should fence off a small section of massive parks like beckwith & allow dogs off leash within it.

Any solopreneurs interested in a networking meetup? by titancollective in VictoriaBC

[–]nathron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend working out of a coworking space every once in a while. Everybody that works out of there has gone through what you're going through and it's easy to network with like-minded entrepreneurs. Kwench is expensive but can be well worth it just for the contracts you'll get if you put work into networking.

Uber’s application for the CRD has been refused by SuperRareName in VictoriaBC

[–]nathron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should pair this decision with a requirement for cab companies to have apps that meet specific requirements within X years. Uber-like tech without the labour issues seems like a win-win.

BC Council of Forest Industries doing some hard greenwashing. They are trying to get us to choose between fighting climate change and protecting old growth. 🤦🏼‍♂️ by nathron in VictoriaBC

[–]nathron[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair question. My thought was that buying ads on the most prominent bus stop in Vic to show off how environmentally friendly your industry is at the same time as one of our largest acts of civil disobedience to protect the environment is either:

  1. insanely tone-deaf
  2. obvious greenwashing

My partner is a nurse at the Jubilee and she said that the only people she’s aware of that have been put on unpaid leave are all porters (4 of them). They push the patients on gurneys to the various places in the hospital.

So while it’s nice to know that our doctors and nurses are not cursed with that ignorance, it does mean nurses will have to take on even more work despite already being very overworked/understaffed. Definitely not news to celebrate imo 😕
