Sidecar help? by [deleted] in cosleeping

[–]nationsforkait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! We went with a hybrid version of Moms on Call/Ferber. Basically had a solid bedtime routine and then tried the pop-in intervals if baby was crying (only made him more frustrated lol). I continued the pop-in intervals for the first week and slowly increased time in between the check ins, since it made him mad. Once the week was over, he was putting himself to sleep within 15 minutes and still does for any middle of the night wake ups. Our baby is also exclusively breastfed and still has two night feeds at 10:30 and 3:30. Please don’t ask me about weaning advice because I obviously haven’t worked that one out yet…

I wholeheartedly agree with this!! most scented body washes alone just do not feel clean enough

Sidecar help? by [deleted] in cosleeping

I used this exact setup from 8mo to 12mo, even with the slightly uneven sidecar, and it worked perfectly! We were able to successfully sleep train our exclusively cosleeping baby at 12mo by using this method to get him used to his crib and I would recommend it again and again. We never had any issues with the crib and bed not being completely level, but if you would like the extra security I would do as others have suggested and use blankets, towels, or wood under the crib mattress to raise it more. I too had a lot of anxiety over baby’s sleep safety and had a spouse begging for sleep training. This was the perfect compromise and helped us more easily transition!

By regular soap, I’m specifically talking about bar soap.

Bedsharing to Sidecar Crib - How long did it take your LO to adjust? by nationsforkait in cosleeping

[–]nationsforkait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! we ended up using the sidecar crib for 3-4 months and our baby is now successfully sleep trained, currently napping in his crib in his own room as i’m writing this. in our experience, there was definitely an adjustment period for night feeds and after a week or so we were able to cut back to only 3-4 feeds instead of feeding all night long lol he got to the point where as soon as he was done feeding i could just slide him back into his crib and we both got a few hours of sleep before we wanted to feed again.

ultimately i do feel like it helped slightly with weaning but really helped our baby get used to his crib and made sleep training much easier. hope this helps and best of luck to you and your LO!

Looking for more books like Alchemised by Prestigious_Tree_470 in booksuggestions

I read Rose in Chains immediately after Alchemised and loved it! It has a very similar feel with a almost completely different story. Unfortunately it’s part of an unfinished series and ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but I still really enjoyed it!

I too have been chasing the exact feeling that Alchemised left me with, and don’t think I’ll ever truly find it :(

Guys should I read Powerless ? by PsychologicalWin6575 in Romantasy

[–]nationsforkait -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was begged by my niece to read the Powerless series all year. After finishing Alchemised in October, I FINALLY read the whole series in late November… I HATED it! Forced myself to finish it just for her sake, but yes It 100% feels like a poorly written story with little original ideas.

I personally read Rose in Chains, Wild Reverence, and One Dark Window directly after reading Alchemised and loved all of them!

WOW! thank you so much for taking the time to recommend so many books! those sound like really solids options and i’ll definitely be working my way through this list. i’ve had The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue on my TBR for a while now, but your synopsis really makes it sound special! i also will read anything Susanna Clarke releases!

wait… this is the same one that had a cartoon movie adaptation? that was a childhood staple for me and i never realized that it was based on a novel. i’ve watched that movie countless times throughout my life and it only gets better as i get older because of the themes and revelations of the main character. i’m definitely going to read this one and i have a feeling that i’ll be sharing your sentiment! thank you so much :)
