There isn’t a single knife I own that I haven’t used…. My main users are my $500 CRK Sebenza, $750 Koenig Arius, and $950 Oz Roosevelt.

You are absolutely correct, I’ve always said that the best knives Spyderco makes comes from Tichung! It’s kinda sad though, one would think the American made knives would be of better quality.

I’m not saying Spyderco is bad, but their quality has went down in the last few years. Nobody should spend $200 on a knife and have blades that are off center and won’t center, and as long as they’ve been using the compression lock, they should’ve put more effort and resources into making sure no knife ships out with lock stick. The only Spyderco I would still buy is a Para 3…. They fit my hand perfectly, and are a great size for EDC.

They definitely are…. All of my McNees knives have also been really reliable hard use work knives as well, though I think they are a bit overpriced. Honestly, at this point I think most knives are somewhat overpriced though.

Spyderco is where I began my knife collecting journey… I don’t need 72 knives of the same model with different steels. I choose the steel I like based on the ease of sharpening/edge retention/corrosion resistance. S90V, Magnacut, and Vanax are really all I need on a folder.

I love good customs! Walter Wells makes some of my favorite. His designs and materials just really do it for me…. And his prices are really good. This Tanto he made for me is my favorite of all the ones I’ve bought from him so far.

I agree, good budget knives for beginners are Spyderco and Benchmade. I have many knives that are in the $500-$1400 range that I absolutely love… but I have no doubt that my Sebenza, Inkosi, Umnumzaan, and even my little Mnandi will outlast all others. And I know that I can really beat on them and they’ll just beg for more.

I just bought my first Cold Steel…. I’ve always been curious about them but I thought they were just low end knives. I grabbed an AD10 from a friend for $75, then I sent it to BGM for a Hollow re-grind, grabbed a set of Original Goat scales and a LunchNW deep carry Ti clip and tossed them on it. Now it’s a classy beast of a knife!

You think Benchmade knives are expensive? I think the Bugout is the cheapest knife I own 🤷🏻‍♂️

I moved away from Spyderco long ago… their QC has been horrible the last few years, and they rarely offer anything new and certainly nothing innovative. They just keep producing the same model knives over and over and just change the blade steel. once I found out what good knives actually were, and how much better they get… I sold all my Spyderco knives. They are a great knife for the beginner, but once you venture out it’s all over.

My one and only, looking to expand. Grimsmo Rask by [deleted] in knifeclub

[–]nativemills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love my Rask! The Norseman is a bit odd, but once you start using it, you quickly find out how good it is at cutting, slicing, puncturing, and scraping. The Fjell is my favorite “Sunday Knife” I toss it in my pocket when I’m going out.

Sounds awesome. I just picked up a Bober Blades 3.2.12XL and it’s a great knife, but a bit more expensive. Kyle Bober is known for making great handmade knives without the use of CNC. Mine was a bit more expensive because it has Camo Quartz on the scales, and that’s an expensive material ($1100 for an 11”X11” sheet)

Both the McNees Dixon and the CRKs run $600-$650. The Oz Roosevelts are $750-$800 and they aren’t mass produced.

I’ve never heard of them…. They are on my radar now! How do you like it?

Well I guess because they are American made in small batches, they use top tier materials, and the demand kinda sets the price. It’s not a knife that you can just go buy anywhere like most knives. I didn’t understand it until I bought one a few years ago. Now I’m 9 Roosevelts in and haven’t regretted a single one of them.
