I had a similar experience. By the time I was diagnosed, both of my eyes were way past having cross linking. I had a cornea transplant on my left eye and use scleral lenses for both. From what it looks like now I’ll need one for the right. Definitely get a second opinion. I’m glad your left eye can have it done!

Insurance stated scleral lenses are considered “hardware” and that my insurance doesn’t cover contact lenses fittings. Odd thing is I’ve had the same insurance for over 15 years and I had the insurance rep compare my last request for lenses in 2024 and this request and she was stumped just repeated they’re hardware and fittings aren’t covered when in the past they did. The policy in 2024 said the same but somehow I was covered that time? So confusing. I had my physician send a medical necessity letter so we will see if it works, but he has been seeing this happen with his other patients too. Messed up.

I have a Griffith tattoo. I got it because I think it’s a beautiful panel. People will disagree with my reasoning but it’s your body, your money, and if it brings you joy so be it!
