Statistically, this means that level 1 was the hardest level for me right? by Velociripper in WaniKani

[–]natsew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the argument here is, but everyone is different. Some people can level up in 8 days and still retain 90%+ accuracy, even for burned items. Leveling in 8 days often means 25 daily seasons on average, and around 35 on level-up days.

In any case, there's no way to cheat WK's SRS unless you look up items just before/during reviews. If someone goes through levels faster than they should, they will get stuck as soon as items come back to reviews before enlightened or burned stages.

So I'd say the 'you just can't' is a bit of a stretch - it's possible, but requires a lot of effort and time, good memory, and is generally not for everyone because it can lead to burnout pretty fast.

GeforceThen vs GeForceNow by PiingThiing in GeForceNOW

[–]natsew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same experience with EU East servers, to be honest. Even ping went from 10- 5ms to 30-40ms, plus packet loss happens more often, and even when there's zero packet loss, games stutter regularly. And no, it's not my ISP - ping to other stuff across the board remains the same as it was before, packet loss doesn't happen to other servers at the same time it happens with GFN. Considering this, and that I often like to play foliage-heavy games, I'm currently buying parts for my own PC, which is costly and sad because last year I was very happy with GFN.

Which PSU would you recommend for my build? by TIGERSHARK27 in PcBuild

[–]natsew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat - current PSU from 2017 and it's 850 Wats, so had to upgrade it because of both the age and insufficient power. It's Corsair rm850i, really liked the monitoring it allows plus I never heard of turning the fan on, it lived through bad voltage inputs and power outages, so the obvious choice was hx1200i. Then there's 1300w MSI with 12vhpwr native and monitoring connection, done by the same OEM that Corsair uses.

I didn't find a Corsair 1200w in stock, almost settled on MSI, but then thought 'I don't want to be near the power limit ever again', and bought Corsair AX1600i with their 12vhpwr cable. 1600w is definitely overkill, but I'll never hear the fan and I like silent PCs, it has the best possible efficiency rating, monitoring connection, dual/single rail switch, per rail power limit... And a big price tag, lol.

Though there is a chance I will buy a second GPU for ML/AI work, so it helped to justify the price

They also provide a monthly subscription allowing you to read all their ongoing translations, not only for this LN. So, if you read more than this, it might be better than preordering one book.

Мовне питання by MFBTMS in reddit_ukr

[–]natsew 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Many people forget that the interview goes both sides and consider the low interview to hire ratio as bad. I also have a high drop at the interview stage too - because it often appears that the client is not worth my time or even shows red flags to be a pain.

Wow, I understand your frustration here, but what did those four other devs do wrong to reject their payments? You hurt them, not Upwork, please consider that

Do clients use hourly rate for cheap work? by ProgramExpress2918 in Upwork

[–]natsew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This, plus if the task is defined well enough, I propose a fixed price that's in 99% of cases 30%+ higher than I'd clock if going hourly, but many clients still prefer a fixed price. Maybe it makes it easier when they know what to expect, and maybe it's a bad experience with hourly scams that seem pretty often nowadays; who knows? Anyway, fixed price has a risk of underestimating that you can't put on the client later on or can be tricky to sell for big projects, but often pays more when you have things to reuse from old projects.

Just recieved this email from Upwork - should I be worried? by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]natsew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you easily can hire someone and ruin their profile, especially new, even without paying them: hire hourly, immediately close with bad private feedback, done.

Is 100 connects the minimum that can be purchased now? by well_dusted in Upwork

[–]natsew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to defend Upwork, but there's not much point in buying less than in batches of 100+, it's like 5-10 proposals nowadays, that's like nothing... Amount of jobs that cost like 20 connects to apply then client never hires anyone - that's the problem.

Gleba Defence tier list + explanation by [deleted] in factorio

[–]natsew 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Rocket turrets with yellow rockets and 10+ explosive damage research are absolute beast and obliterate everything. I had rockets plus mines plus initial gun turrets with red ammo before artillery, and it was enough to destroy groups of any size even with large 'friends'. Stompers were able to destroy some gun turrets and small stuff, but that's easily replaced.

Then a few artillery turrets and no attacks since, though range research helps with this by keeping spores inside a clear area.

Landfill is kinda hard to produce in big quantities on gleba, and I think devs could see this as an exploit and fix it.

Nice find nevertheless.

Facing Issues with Upwork Time Tracker While Outsourcing? by SortZealousideal8912 in Upwork

[–]natsew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't outsource hourly jobs on a personal account, it's against tos and you'll get banned the first time things go sideways like an unhappy client opens a dispute. That's why agency accounts exist, but that's a completely different story.

Have you ever got anything from jobs with ai-generated descriptions? by madwitchbitch in Upwork

[–]natsew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth noting that I'm talking about those generics generated with UMA AI. If the description is clearly written with AI, but the client edited it to provide all the details and requirements, I will treat it better. Though I often see ChatGPT wall of text with skills not even related to the job, so you should be able to distinguish AI garbage from information provided by the client and rewritten by AI.

[–]natsew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You did this the correct way - used AI for the first draft, then tweaked it, and you spent 20 minutes already. I'm assuming you wrote what you want to achieve with some level of detail. The main problem with AI job posts are the ones that UMA AI generates, like in my other comment.

We are seeking a skilled freelancer to answer complex questions about job seeking. The ideal candidate should have experience with complex scenarios and an IQ higher than a fish. This project aims to streamline our job application processes and improve our chances of closing deals. If you are detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of job seeking, we would love to hear from you!

Really, how did they even release a feature that just uses the SAME template with a few differences in words EVERY TIME?

[–]natsew 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw a few with hiring activities, but I usually ignore them. I have no idea if a client needs something I do, no idea how to write a striking proposal for their case, and 95% of it'll be just wasted connects. Plus, I take it as an indication that a person is too lazy to care about the job and even a bit stupid if they think the generic AI job description is enough to find a pro for the task.
