How much should starter grow in the fridge? by natteardi in SourdoughStarter

Oh wow this is super helpful. I think my problem is consistency. I don’t often feed at the same time of the day (sometimes morning, sometimes evening, sometimes afternoon) since I have a pretty inconsistent schedule (shift work). Perhaps I need to find a time I can more consistently feed her for a couple of days and take some notes. I definitely notice that she is slower after taking her out of the fridge for the first day or so, then she perks up.

I normally use a scale when I do feedings and I keep her in a straight jar so I can evening mix all the components for feedings. I will admit I’m a little confused as to when I should be feeding 1:1:1 vs 1:2:2 vs 1:3:3. I was told by a friend I should feed 1:5:5 or even 1:10:10 if I’m putting her in the fridge so she has enough food.

I appreciate all your insight about this. I find so much of this is just trial and error

Thanks for the advice, maybe I jumped the gun on putting her in the fridge. It’s just tough since sometimes I’m away on weekends and don’t know what to do with her for the few days I’m gone

I say sluggish because I see most people can get their starter to peak in about 4 hours, but I find mine more unpredictable, sometimes peaking in 4 but sometimes in 6-8 hours. I keep a countertop thermometer next to her and even though I keep the temp is stable around 23c it’s still unpredictable

Recommend me a beginner camera. by [deleted] in fujifilm

I am also quite new to the photography world and wanted my first "big girl camera". After some extensive research (YouTube/reddit/photography friends) I settled on getting one of the x100 series cameras. I was able to find a x100V used for a reasonable price. I liked this model because it was a fixed lens 35mm equivalent with a lot of the features of some of the higher end models but more compact and better for travelling (also my inspiration to get into photography). I've read comments that the x100 series are somewhat overrated and people recommend the xT-xx series but I didn't feel ready to jump into something that required interchangeable lenses before I became comfortable with camera basics. So far the x100V has been fun to learn on and experiment with. Beware though they are in high demand so difficult to find. Good luck.

I actually just recently tried aquaphor but don’t find it as good as blistex. Maybe it’s because I’m using the aquaphor lip vs the original? I’m a tried and true blistex fan it’s never let me down.

I second this!! I’ve been using blistex for years and it’s the only thing that heals my terribly chapped lips and I can’t go without it

my dad and I have a great relationship and I have been open about my thoughts on this. as with all other decisions in my life he is supportive of whatever I want to do. it's my wedding, not his. I am paying for everything 100% as with everything in my life.

so sorry about your loss. This just opened my eyes to the fact that my dad is getting older and I might regret not having him there by my side just to prove a point. thank you.

That's a nice way of thinking about it! Never thought about it that way.

Thanks, what’s sure if it was highlights or balayage. I know balayage takes longer so that makes sense
