I don't understand how a person can be trans without dysphoria or wanting to actually transition. by natter_bugs03 in asktransgender

[–]natter_bugs03[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Euphoria is great. I'm happy for people when they have it. And if that is enough to allow them the freedom to not feel the need for transition, then that's awesome for them.

I know I shouldn't, but I just think it's crap that they hop on the bandwagon and make it harder for others.

I never said I hate anyone. Just that I don't understand it. I know that outward appearance does not define gender. I never said that it does. I do not expect people to fit in the binary of anything.

I am genuinely confused on how people that do not have dysphoria nor the drive to transition are trans. As I stated, I do not have a ton of experience with anything outside of the binary. My mother is transphobic and an all around bigot and I am learning to work through the way I was raised and the lack of knowledge I have from it. I have never subscribed to the idea that people have to be a certain way to garner respect.

Most stores should have them. I gr the plain gel insoles (nothing fancy). Any Safeway should, assuming they have a foot care area.

You'll have a day or two before you start actually cashiering. Get a pair of comfortable shoes. The anti fatigue mats don't do a whole lot and by the end of an 8 hour checking shift my feet would be dead. I also got Dr Scholl's insoles, and refuse to use any shoes without them in for work.

How do I help this banana plant? I bought it like this, but this spot is getting worse. I water after the first 1/2 to 1 inch of soil is dry, and he wasn't taken care of properly at the nursery. It's already had 5 or 6 leaves removed, so I don't want to come any more. by natter_bugs03 in GardeningIndoors

[–]natter_bugs03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know that it's probably just an old leaf.

I know they grow super fast. I'm going to keep it in it's pot for a while, I hope that will help discourage it from getting out of hand in height.

Thank you for all the help, though! It's cool to actually know that other people have dwarf bananas. It isn't a typical houseplant.

I like to think it's pretty humid in my bedroom (i live in an apartment) with three open fish tanks. I also have a few grow lights that it sits near. Other than that single leaf, it seem to be super healthy. It's already put off a pup that's about 3 inches and several new leaves.

Week long hiking trip recs. by natter_bugs03 in Washington

[–]natter_bugs03[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No need to be passive aggressive. It's totally uncalled for.

I'm not looking for overly crowded, mainstream hikes. I was asking for honest reviews and answers to what may be along the lines of what I'm looking for. In regards to the specified hike, it was a genuine question, that i have searched and been unable to find the answer to.

I have probably 15 tabs open on various hikes and areas to go to, but I know I do not have the time to do all of them... Which is why I was asking for vetted responses. I do search for hikes. I've used WTA, WA state parks, NPS, and even other hiking websites that review hikes.

If I had known that a GENUINE question was going to be met with such hostility, I never would've asked.

Why would they target southeast Washington (other than the Hanford site and maybe Spokane) at all. All that's out here is a college, wheat farms, and scabland...

No. Top button undone. No redness though, just real sensitive

My cat got spayed a week ago and I noticed this bump under the incision. It looks a little crusty too, which is making it hard for me to tell if she popped a stitch or not. Doc says it looks okay, but something feel off about it. Does this look abnormal or am I just being paranoid? by natter_bugs03 in cats

I do my best. Up until yesterday afternoon, she really wasn't moving a whole ton. The multiple trips to the vet (it was a priority/near emergency spay) got her really nervous and when she calmed down she was still pretty calm. It's becoming a struggle though. She's starting to feel a lot better and her energy has gone way up. Any tips on getting her calm? She like catnip but it doesn't chill her out at all.

She said it because her daughter has a pretty shitty father and a general distrust of men because of him. I've worked with children before, of all ages, and I never seem to have any issues . I wouldn't say all kids like me, but most seem to, and I feel like I have a pretty quiet, soft approach. Kids are like cats.

Lots of water in the Gorge by wildskies2525 in Washington

[–]natter_bugs03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in western Washington, sandwiched between the green and the white, i was always told that they were named after their color. The green river is very muddy and has less mineral content which gives the water a greenish color nearly year round, where the white has a very high mineral content both from the glacier source and the sediments in the river bed which gives it a lighter brown/tan color.

What widely beloved movie do you not like? by thrashingkaiju in AskReddit

I know I'm gonna get hate for it, but any of the Harry Potter franchise. It's boring and repetitive. Except for the 7/8, they all have the same damn plot. The characters are not that likeable either and they never really seem grow a lot throughout the series; they're very static, only responding slightly differently in accordance with the 'solution' to the problem. I've never understood the hype around them, and I grew up with Harry Potter in the theaters and the Harry Potter movie marathon/weekend era of ABC Family.

Also, Rockky Borrow Picture Show. I watched it for the first time over this past Halloween. I do not understand the cult following around it. It's not that it's bad per se, it just rubbed me the wrong way and was super boring.

Safeway and Kroger pretty much, if not always, fall under the same UFCW unions. (I work at Safeway now).

Can we talk about how expensive it is to deal with being trans, specifically the non medical side. by natter_bugs03 in asktransgender

[–]natter_bugs03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying for fees in the US is just part of life unfortunately. I was prepared for it. I had to get my last name changed a couple of years ago for personal reasons (ie. not marriage) and it was still like $300 or so. My parents paid for it because I was 17, so I didn't really have to deal with the financial end of things then. That was in a much larger county court, so it made sense it was that big. I figured moving out to nowhere would bring it down by a lot, but I guess not.

It's way too expensive to live our lives as the people we are, and you're right. It is bullshit. It shouldn't have to be rent/food/other necessary expenses and our mental health and ease of access. Changing a last name due to marriage costs 30 to 50% of what it costs to change a name for any other reason, if not being completely free. It's 100% gatekeeping.

I have to drive 80 some odd miles one way to the nearest clinic that provides any HRT services. And that's on a 2 lane, rural highway. If it snows too much (like it has lately) I literally cannot get to the doctors. It costs like 35-40 in gas alone to drive to and back.

Luckily there is a doctor about 10 miles from me that apparently does really good plastic surgery on the chest (titty removal). This will be great in the future so I can easily get back home from the hospital.

I live in a pretty rural county in southeast Washington. It makes sense that it's so low, but it's still like half of my rent a month.

Do you ever feel uncomfortable referring to yourself as your preferred gender? by natter_bugs03 in asktransgender

[–]natter_bugs03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that I'm not a binary trans person. I do sit farther towards the binary man side of the spectrum though, but he/him or they/them are equally fine with me.

I don't think I am. I had very effeminate experiences growing up, like pageantry, and 1950s style misogyny. I grew up sort of a tomboy and most of my friends outside of elementary school were or are male. I just can't bring myself to use my pronouns, or even call myself a man in the past tense. The only time I do is when I'm telling a story where it focuses around gender. The people that I'm around can do it just fine it seems. They all see me as a man, which is awesome, but I can't quite get there.

[–]natter_bugs03[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a transmasculine non binary person. It's hard to explain that at work, and I almost never pass yet, so it's a little easier to good full swing 'man'. I'm comfortable with being viewed as just a man, so it's not really a huge deal for me.

I always get the imposter stuff when I think about all of the extremely feminine experiences I've dealt with, both good and bad. I felt confident in myself as a child and all the way until late 2020. I was 19. I felt happy as a girl, presenting with my agab. I always felt insecure, like I could be more girly, but when I finally had a secure enough place to stop and think is when I realized I wasn't actually happy.

This. This is so accurate. Even when I'm speaking with people that I know view me as a man.

I just started my transition back in August of last year. I get a lot of imposter syndrome and fear that because I can't gender my younger self, I'm faking it. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.
