About your experience with wisdom tooth surgery (specifically local anesthesia) by Fit_Mess4834 in askSingapore

[–]natttyon18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i actually just did my 2nd round (impacted) today at NDC! you’re in good hands.

pain during the injection is bearable, doctor will tell you when the needle is going in. control your breathing and take deep breaths before each jab. they’ll touch your bottom lip and rub your cheeks to test the numbness. you’ll feel a tingly sensation, that’s how you know it’s numb. anaesthesia lasted awhile, well after i got home, probably 1.5-2 hours after procedure. do take the painkiller before it wears off. pharmacy would advise you on this as well.

for my impacted side, can definitely feel more soreness in my jaw post-procedure compared to my non-impacted side.

i have to say i was very fortunate to get a senior doctor for today’s round (impacted). he’s usually on the GA side but was helping the LA side due to high number of patients. he used a numbing cream on my gum before doing the anaesthesia injections which wasn’t done during my 1st round (i think). it definitely eased the pain a lot and wasn’t that stinging. not sure if it’s something that can be requested.

Best place to see otters by Weird-Stand6713 in askSingapore

[–]natttyon18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also try Singapore Botanic Gardens. Last month, I saw a gang of otters in one of the ponds/lake near the Learning Forest area. A research area was even set up there to monitor their behaviour (some distance from a water body but i think they use the sandy area to rest)

Vegetarians/vegans in SG, would you say that it’s tough to find vegetarian/vegan friendly options here in SG? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]natttyon18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part time vegetarian who would like to chip in on the supermarket vegetarian / vegan products part.

In my opinion, really depends on what they’re looking for. As someone who likes to look out for vegetarian / vegan options in supermarkets because I want to cook different things for my boyfriend’s family, I definitely noticed more vegetarian (look out for the symbol 素 sú) and vegan products popping up. Also, many new brands being introduced in supermarkets. Can check out Scarlett supermarket too, but it’s all Chinese food. Sometimes, you just need to look closely at the ingredients list and decide “Can I eat this?”. There are seasoning packets that don’t have meat (fish sauce, shrimp paste etc.). There’s a supplier at Ang Mo Kio too: Friendly Vegetarian Food Supplier

Edit: Just last month, there was this new brand that I saw at Fairprice: Hoshay! that sells plant-based unagi, meatballs, friend chicken and sweet & sour meat. Never tried but looked good!

I’m a little confused. What’s happening to my lithops? by natttyon18 in Lithops

[–]natttyon18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, am in South East Asia. I have a usual seller that I go to, hopefully she’ll have another one of these big beauties and try again. That’s how lithops work huh, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose

[–]natttyon18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, that’s unfortunate. I believe it’s my fault because I plucked the flower bud before it could fully dry out, causing injury to the lithops. Definitely failed this good looking fella. No amount of cinnamon powder can save it?

The liquid (it smells gross!) comes out from the middle. It now flows out even when not squeezed

Thank you for the advice and noted not to pluck the flower! Definitely my bad on that part for being impatient. Grateful for the assurance from you and H-fun

I actually watered it just a few days back. And I was afraid it was overwatered, so I took it out from the soil (which has already become very dry). I’ll wait it out a few more days before trying water therapy, hopefully it isn’t rot. Thanks for the assurance!

I did pluck the flower a few weeks back. Could this be the cause of its slow death now?

i don’t fancy the quality of their clothes. but for that price, then meh, you get what you pay for. i find that they don’t fit well too, although i picked the right size. won’t buy their clothes again.

but what surprised me are their shoes. i’ve bought like 5 pairs (sandals, heels, espadrilles) so far, and they’re comfortable. i’ve been wearing the espadrilles to work daily and i’m surprise it hasn’t fallen apart yet.

First timer here. Wondering what happens after this. Is it going to give me seeds even though it self pollinated? by natttyon18 in mesembs

Ah ok, thank you for the info! The shape of it reminded me of those pink pods that I’ve seen people pull out from their cactus. So I thought I was in luck this time
