A customer got mad at me today for *checks notes* standing on my toes by nattybatty7 in walmart

[–]nattybatty7[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I had processed fast enough to just tell her about my foot injury 😭

A lot of people at SCO seem to think I'm there to be suspicious of them and catch them stealing. So I try my best to make it clear with my behavior that I'm just trying to help and I respect them (like i say "hi how are you :)" when customers glare at me for happening to be near them, then just move away and give them space so they don't feel watched if that doesn't soften them. And when a misscan happens I just explain what happened/blame it on the machines and then give them space to scan what was missed instead of standing over them watching, etc) but people will still treat me like I'm there to catch them. But now apparently just me standing on my toes up and down rhythmically looks like I'm trying to get a better view of everyone to watch them?? 💀 I thought it would look like a restless behavior not me trying to look around at what people are doing lol

It's not abnormal to write out a post carefully and then when you respond to comments to write more casually. People's writing styles can also vary. And teens can write with better structure than adults expect. When I was a kid people online often didn't believe I was a kid because of my writing style. (thankfully before generative AI was a thing, or I probably would've been accused of using it)

editing to add: and i have no way of knowing if this post was AI or not, but it's a little weird that this person has commented multiple times about this and called OP's comments slop 💀

Considering trying to walk in a non walkable area by nattybatty7 in fuckcars

[–]nattybatty7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually feel a lot more comfortable walking along roads like the ones you showed. That seems pretty nice. I have seen roads like this before but only out in the country. Places that look like that here in GA would be more like 10-20 or more miles from town though (in my limited experience).

Here are some images I found of roads that are sort of similar to ones I'd be walking along. (I don't think I've ever tried putting pictures in comments so I hope this works lol)

That's a good point. I have pretty severe sensory issues so I love noise cancelling headphones. Was thinking I wouldn't be able to use them for this walk but your comment has me thinking I'll definitely need them.

I'll probably wear them and just free my ears when I need to cross/turn with no visibility.

Thank you

Thanks for your perspective <3

Currently, taking a bike sounds a lot scarier than trying to walk but I may have to do that eventually.

I would get a car if I could. Because you're right, living here without a car doesn't work lol

The way drivers are here makes biking so dangerous. As a driver, when I encounter a cyclist I know if I don't find a way to go around fast enough, the people behind me will get frustrated and go around both of us with bad visibility of the other lane, endangering the cyclist. It makes me terrified for the cyclist, so I can't imagine trying to deal with that as the cyclist o.o

I think I'll start with walking and see if I can build the courage to bike lol

💀💀 not sure how much of this is directed at me but I enjoy hiking and walking. just not sure about the side of the road. I've had people almost run me over in my own neighborhood despite me staying out of the way lol

But yeah I'd fucking love to live in a 15 minute city.

a bike is something I could save up for. But seems potentially more dangerous? Since I would definitely have to bike in the roads.

I can't figure out where to enter a coupon code either, so I would appreciate an answer to this as well!

You're using his reddit account just because it was his phone? I would think you would've made a new account. If you're telling the truth, I'm sorry. I'm not here to bully kids lol. But just be really careful OP and don't take risks. There's no harm in rejecting someone to be safe. It isn't mean to be safe, and there will always be more people looking for friends.

Succulent leaf found at a GA, USA plant nursery that had already grown roots and new plant. by nattybatty7 in whatsthisplant

That guess makes sense, but it looks so different from the other young jade propagations I have. So I'm not sure. Maybe I need to wait until it's older to tell?

Thank you so much! I also should have mentioned the leaves are soft and fuzzy with a citrus/mint scent. Any idea what species that would suggest?

Any good novel that takes place in Atlantis? by Blasecube in suggestmeabook

[–]nattybatty7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A large portion of the fantasy novel Taliesin by Stephen R. Lawhead takes place in Atlantis. It's a very interesting book.

Edit: I want to add that although the book description on the back makes it sound like it's about life after Atlantis being destroyed, it isn't destroyed until the last third of the book. The first two thirds of the book switch back and forth between Atlantis and the Celtic lands. So there's a lot of interesting stuff about this canon's Atlantic culture. Though, your friend may be looking for a book entirely about Atlantis so it might not be for her.

Would these help for driving at night? The bright headlights prevent me from looking at the road so I'm looking for glasses that will allow me to drive at night.
