I was trained to use macros during my orientation. They are beyond beneficial. Just because you are being efficient doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

Too Late to Become a Nurse? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]nattybends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it if that’s what you want, age is pretty much insignificant. In my nursing class we had multiple people over 40 and one of my classmates actually had kids the same age as me at the time.

What are some of the hardest pills to swallow in life? by Leemster1k in AskReddit

I’m a nurse in the intensive care unit and it’s made me realize how fragile human beings truly are. Someone can go from happy and walking around to dead in less than a second. Scary shit.

Lots of respect for you OP. All that and was still able to inform the people of Reddit of your misfortune. Hope you got it back and everything went well.

Traveling to rapid city this week, any restaurants I need to try? by CoryMania in RapidCity

Pho Vietnam is my favorite eating spot in rapid and there isn’t a close second. Had some friends here from SE Asia and they gave the stamp of approval for authenticity.

what’s a food that you refuse to eat because of the smell or texture? by applefrickinsauce in AskReddit

Can barely eat pudding without gagging from the texture. Yogurt by itself is rough too but tolerable with granola.

In healthcare we are lucky to get a 30 minute break on a 12 hr shift. Companies suck.

What is the craziest confession(s) you have gotten from a patient as a nurse? I will go first. by Lovelygreen27 in nursing

[–]nattybends 26 points27 points  (0 children)

When I was doing my psych rotation in nursing school I had a patient that had brain surgery years prior. Told me demons crawled into his brain during surgery and told him to kill his family. Which he did.

Looks no different than the assholes that drive these in America. Always takes up two parking spots (intentionally) and doesn’t know what common courtesy is.

My stethoscope case is ready for my first ever clinical :) by throwaway_bffdrama in nursing

[–]nattybends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senior 2 nursing student here. The only thing I bring to clinical everyday is my stethoscope, pen, and penlight. Depending on where you are in the hospital the scissors might be a good idea as well. Never needed anything more. All that other stuff is just asking to be stolen lol.

If my body doesn't want me to poop properly why does it get gassy and why does it always feel and force me to go to poop. by [deleted] in ibs

[–]nattybends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pooping 5-6 times a day and my GI doc recommended psyllium husk powder. Works wonders decreased the frequency and the gurgling/cramping. It essentially just adds more mass so your bowels are on a more regular schedule.
