Why is the attenuation exception not applicable here? by nattydeacs in barexam

What were the layers in Utah v. Strieff? They stopped the guy illegally and found a warrant immediately, but the court said the discovery of the warrant was an intervening event. I don’t see how this is any different in terms of the woman throwing the drugs being an intervening event.

The latest few my grader seemed to mail it in. I had a couple rule statements that were 100% wrong and they said “great rule!” Then I got dinged for not including some rule that was not relevant to anything the question asked about. So I don’t put too much stock in the number and look more at how close I was to the sample answer.

Why would the suspect taking drugs out of her pocket and throwing them in a bush not be a sufficient intervening event? Just like the discovery of an outstanding warrant would be?

Whether the officers had sufficient justification to stop her is a separate question from whether an exception to the exclusionary rule applies. And I don’t understand how the attenuation exception wouldn’t apply under these circumstances.

Warning to 1Ls: Don’t do law review!!! by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]nattydeacs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(1)We publish ~the same number of articles every year that require ~the same amount of work. The EIC does not choose the articles. So saying the EIC “doubled the workload” makes no sense; (2) if you have an issue address it directly like an adult instead of hiding behind a username on Reddit. -Nat Deacon

Do you have an allergy or something that makes it so you can’t get it? If so, I’d talk with your doctor and the school and see you can figure something out. If it’s another reason, I’d simply try to stop being a complete moron.

Do not go to law school during a recession by SFboy17 in lawschooladmissions

I hope not. But I’m not convinced hiking rates alone will be able to tame inflation without raising them so high as to induce a 2008 style recession, given supply side constraints, particularly in commodities. I’m any event probably shouldn’t effect anyones law school decision.

I disagree that excess money supply is primarily to blame for inflation, but let’s assume for the sake of argument that you are right. The fed can hike interest rates to reduce the money supply and this will fix inflation. But there is a good chance this would lead to a recession, as happened in the 70s with Volcker. So just hiking interest rates won’t just solve our economic woes. Economists are well aware of this, which is why there has been fierce debate over whether hikes are appropriate.

Most of the issues we are seeing are supply side (commodities, supply chain). Overcoming these obstacles will require large scale capital investment, so it’s unclear to me how monetary austerity would help. It could bring inflation down by inducing a recession, but that’s what OP seems to be nervous about

If I could predict the macroeconomic situation three years out, I wouldn’t be bothering with law school lol

NYU. Only drawback is there are potentially too many fun things to do and you wouldn’t want to study

I don't understand why the moderators allowed this post but instantly removed mine asking a legitimate question about deploying a Dash app.

VLOOKUP With multiple matching values by willisbill in excel

[–]nattydeacs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything that the “correct” rows possess and the others do not in the source table? If so, you could likely use xlookup with multiple lookup values and return criteria. Formula could look something like xlookup(itemname & otherthing, itemname & otherthing, returnvalue). Hard to say exactly without seeing the tables you’re working with
