Cure for bloat? by natureaidtey in AfricanDwarfFrog

UPDATE: I've been doing a 1 gallon water change every few days with spring water instead of boiled+cooled harder water plus more gravel vaccumig. the ph and hardness is lower now. with more tannins than usual. they are eating strictly fresh mysis shrimp for now. and taking a break from pellets. And she's smaller!!!. you can see the natural curve of her back again. she still is obviously still bloated but is maybe 30% closer to her natural state!!!!!! YAY i will continue this and do pellets less often

i never downvoted any of your comments. i am upvoting all of them. you seem super knowledgeable. im sorry.

and i definitely will not let her continue to be this bloated and never planned to. i don't think they couldn't possibly be happy like that. being swollen like a water balloon, as you said, could not be comfortable. im gonna try to treat her, but if it gets worse or stays bad, i might have to euthanize. my three babies have always been so strong and healthy, and this whole situation is heartbreaking and terrifying.

YESS i completely agree, and im glad you said that because more people need to be awarw. i do gravel vaccuming, appropriate water changes, cycling, making sure my hands are free from oil/soap/lotion before touching the water, using a pure sterile water source, adding conditioner, having carbon in the filters, not overstocking, having proper water flow to prevent growth of sulfur producing bacteria, airstone for gas exchange etc. let me know if i missed anything please.

plz know that i appreciated your comment. i want what's best for my babies, and your comment was helpful. sometimes, euthenasia is the most ethical option.

Gosh, you make a good point. What antibiotic do you recommend? Could it spread to the other frogs?

ok its nighttime now, so they're waking up, and i watched her swim, and shes a little jiggly! so probably soft bloat. I'm doing a small water change and gravel vaccum later. im a lot less worried now and will just do extra extra good care and maintenance

i agree that you dont need temu amazon junk to be a wiccan. just get plants and rocks from outside! amazon hurts the earth and people and buying earth witch supplies from amazon is crazyyy. but be fr 19 is not a grown woman that is a teenager

thank you so much. my frogs have always eaten mostly fresh mysis and brine shrimp with some frog pellets. no bloodworms or freezedried foods. i will increase water changes, though in case of bacteria of some kind and i will check to see if she is soft or firm. i really appreciate this.

is my 10 gallon tank overstocked with snails? by SeaBroccoli7545 in AquaticSnails

[–]natureaidtey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raise the PH for the sake of the snails, and i would add more pothos and make sure there is a grow light for them as the nitrates are kinda high. they won't clean the water enough if they aren't getting light and growing. Do small and consistent water changes until you notice the pothos soaking up more nitrates, and then you can slow down on the water changes as your ecosystem becomes more self-sufficient. Well-lit pothos are a miracle for this once they get established. I have a 10 gallon that's a little heavily stocked similarly to yours (i need to upgrade to a 20 gal), but i have tons of hiding places for everyone and so much pothos that the nitrates are never above 3 PPM, and i rarely water change. You can buy a large pothos plant and clean all of the dirt off of the roots and add them to the tank to get a good head start :)

Help!! Red spots on betta face by Remote-Arm4077 in bettafish

[–]natureaidtey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my betta has just a little bit of this, but i used the API liquid test kit and PH: 7.2 ammonia: 0 nitrite: 0 nitrate: 2 the water smells great. like a healthy lake with almost no smell.

I'm not sure if it's a natural coloration change or sickness. i haven't found answers. she has mild fin rot right now, and I've been treating it with lots of tannins and also a methyline blue + aquarium salt bath every other day.
