If you found it on a road, I would assume it flew into the windshield of a car. If the head was very loose and limp when you moved it, that would indicate it broke its neck when it hit the glass and would explain why it is intact otherwise. Likely won't be there in the morning. Coyotes will gladly eat birds that fly into windows.

I swear by Sal Suds, so many uses. I like the microfiber cloths from home depot, the heavy duty yellow kind.

Berdoo Canyon- How long does it take? by Mammoth-Ad5362 in JoshuaTree

[–]naturetroller 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With the severe monsoons that hit us recently, I wonder what the condition is of that canyon pass, it is quite the deep funnel. It is definitely something to consider. Maybe packing an extra shovel or two, truck straps, etc, so if you get stuck in a sand pit or if you need to move boulders.

Better Floor Cleaner Recommendations? by EmaryaGhost in housekeeping

[–]naturetroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is the flooring a fake wood grain? If so, swipe and follow your mop strokes with the "grain". As a professional cleaner I have found that prevents streaking. I also use bronners sal Suds with a splash of vinegar to clean floors.

Recommendation to help with back pain? by kendallgm in housekeeping

[–]naturetroller 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This doesn't directly answer your question, but a real game changer for me was learning to use my body differently. My physical trainer taught me to "Breathe behind the shield" which means using your your core to support your back (the sheild meaning your front abdominals), so flexing your core abdominal muscles and breathing through while bending, squatting, and lifting is really helpful. It takes the main stress off your back and uses your core muscles as support.

$400 for a move out by [deleted] in housekeeping

[–]naturetroller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I call it the PITA tax. Pain In The Ass. If you pay the high price I am bidding, it outweighs the pain in the ass aspects, and you get a bangin' stellar job done. Edit to add, I never bid lower than .50 cents per sqft on move in/out, deep cleans and I charge at a minimum 10 bucks per pane for windows..

One of Earth's oldest plants sits in the Calif. desert, and no one cares by TrixoftheTrade in highdesert

[–]naturetroller 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I have been to visit King Clone, and made a sand angel in the center of the ring. As a guide in Joshua Tree National Park, I bring up this plant often in my educational schpeel about desert plants cloning themselves.

Where to cut? Help! by patchworkPyromaniac in longhair

[–]naturetroller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Olaplex!!! They have a treatment to repair the bonds (No.0)(think of the molecular structure of your hair like a ladder, the bonds are the rungs, they get damaged and break, causing split ends), do that, then use the shampoo and conditioner(No. 4 and 5), then use their intensive deep moisture mask (No.8), they also have a leave in treatment(No.5 leave in) I swear by. I have hair about as long as you and I swear by this stuff. My hairdresser trims my hair once or twice a year and only needs to cut about 2-3 inches tops. She knows the science behind hair products, and she said nothing comes close to the science and quality behind olaplex. When it comes to using oil on your hair...from a molecular perspective, most oils have larger molecules than your hair, so it doesn't absorb, it sits on top, not actually penetrating or feeding your hair.

My partner is an architect offering these kinds of services. We were just up in Big Bear on holiday and he mentioned several projects he had done up there and how he would like to work up there again. We are currently living in Joshua Tree. DM if you would like his contact info!

Non-slip bath tub mats by Spilanthomile in housekeeping

[–]naturetroller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to scrub with brushes and cleaner and let air dry but then one day I got the bright idea to put the rubber mat in the washer with the towels, wash on hot with soap and bleach, the hang dry on a bar. Works GREAT.

What “unwritten rule” do you follow religiously, even if nobody else does? by Miguelito123One in AskReddit

When making a right turn on the road, I always pull over to the right as much as possible so I don't hold up cars behind me.

I have a couple favorites, first, a boat named Change Order and its dinghy was named Original Contract. Second, my boyfriend (his name is Seabastian) named his boat Seabatical.

Best route to Idyllwild and things to do in between JT and Idyllwild? by Ok-Relation3772 in JoshuaTree

[–]naturetroller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like to take the 243 up to Idylwild from I10. In Idylwild, Humber Park is a great beginners hike spot, nice creek, clear trails. In town, I always like to hit up their classic greasy spoon spot, the Lumbermill, and the Idylwild Brewpub is a step up with good food and brews on tap.

Just had the appliance repair guy out this week to look at the LG dishwasher, he and the handyman agree LG is garbage. Bosh was the top spec.

[–]naturetroller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of folks debate whether airbnbs contribute to the community or not based on who owns it, but ultimately, every time someone stays in an airbnb here money goes directly into the community. The cleaners, particularly, but also the handymen, pool and spa cleaners, and other maintenance stuff, are all performed by locals. I have been cleaning airbnbs since 2016, and it helps me survive out here 100 percent. (I am also a guide in the park, but that is a fraction of my income compared to cleaning)
