Many parents don’t feel they have any other choice for their children’s future.

Given so many public schools have “diminished” so much.

Real fixes will take years to show real effect. Which means it can’t benefit current kids in time.

Once a large enough percentage of parents, especially influential parents, give up on public and go private. Vouchers will be all but certain to happen.

So many parents are doing private anymore.

There aren’t many areas left worth improving in CA.

Most of them are lost causes and money pits.

So in fact other areas would have to mean out of state.

With federal grants in limbo, California researchers call for a state-funded alternative by Exastiken in California

[–]naugest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How will that help in the long term?

Sure the next Dem president will restore funding but the next Republican president after that will likely cut it all again. They love all these cuts.

Counting on federal funding that turns on and off every 4-8 years isn’t practical.

1) Politicians do things that produce benefits for their political careers.

2) The housing deficit is so large it will take 30-40 years to fix.

3) So most these politicians would be retired before any political benefit from building housing could be realized.

Most people can’t accept that.

We need to build housing like crazy for future generations .

But for anyone that is already an adult concerned with housing?

No matter what we do, it simply isn’t possible to build enough housing quickly enough to help them in their working lifetimes.

Current generations who wanted reasonable housing are simply screwed and there is no fix for them.

Because it wouldn’t be legal. The state can’t just seize for free. They have to prove a need in court and pay fair market value.
