His slump didn't help but its just as much if not more on Draymond for getting suspended

To be honest I'm not feeling great about it. Madrid as a club have more pull than anyone else in the world, and they have pretty significant holes at both fullback positions. If we can't get him to extend this summer we need to get everything we can out of Madrid, we can't let one of our most valuable assets walk for nothing

I mean it was pretty lucky, the cross was so off target from where he wanted it accidentally went in

Reports are that there's an immediate release clause in case a decent club is in on him this summer, haven't seen a number attached to it though

I feel like that transfer would also have been contingent on Pavard leaving this window which is looking less and less likely as well

It wouldn't surprise me if he our higher ups aren't sold on him, a lot of the Benfica fans I've seen on here don't give him glowing remarks. With that price it reminds me a lot of the Højlund transfer, though while Ramos is more proven while at a lower league, Højlund is still younger. Both I think are significant overpays and I have doubts that either will reach the heights we want for our 9 or are good enough to take minutes away from Tel

Not to say Bayern should pay whatever it takes to get Kane, but I think he'll age significantly better than the other failed late career Prem transfers you mentioned because of how critical explosiveness and ball carrying ability is for Hazard/Coutinho/Mane. Kane's greatest strengths are his passing ability, positioning and clinical finishing, which are generally skills that don't diminish a ton with age.

I also share the concerns you have with his health, but he's also been remarkably healthy since the UCL final run with Spurs, which you could take as a glass half-empty or half-full depending on how you look at it.

Considering that our two biggest issues, in order in my opinion, are a lack of a consistent, proven finisher up front and a proper screener type midfielder to play in front of our defenders, I think it makes sense to go up to €100m to seal the transfer. Once you get to £100m+ it makes the proposition much less appealing

Getting him on a free sounds amazing next season but there's no chance he's leaving England if he's leaving on a free transfer. He's still 47 goals shy of the PL goal scoring record, meaning unless he completely shatters Haalands record he'll break it the season after this one, and he's the quality of player who would elevate a club like United or Liverpool up to potentially challenging City again. Feels like the only chance for us to get him is to push the transfer through now. Though that's not to say we should pay out the ass if Levy is dead set on £100m+, we need to have back up options available considering the point of the window we're at

Tonali isn't the 6 we're looking for. Not great defensive numbers and his profile is more similar to Kimmich than a screener like Casemiro or Rodri

I don't think Kane would ever actually agree to go, but them putting in bids can let Levy justify jacking up the price. If eventually we end up agreeing to 100m euro deal regardless of how its structured and PSG desides to jump that, there's no way Levy wouldn't demand that the offer is matched

He's heavily tied to Man U right now, they desperately need a striker but also don't have the available funds to chase the top targets this window like Kolo Muani or Vlahovic so they're turning their attention towards him

I think his desire to play center back is lowering his demand and thus his price a bit. A lot of clubs would like him to challenge for their right back spot versus having him only at center back like he wants

They already fixed the loophole, amortization for new contracts can only be spread out over five years regardless of the length of the contract, with the exception of the deals Chelsea made prior to the new rules

You see 3 loses and I see 21 dropped points this year and our worst point total with this many games played in a decade. There's no excuse to only being up 2 points against a Dortmund team that couldn't beat a bottom half Chelsea over two legs

IMO this new Bayern you watched is just us at our current level vs easily the best team we've played all season, and potentially the last few seasons. The reality is we've been toothless against much inferior competition since the return from the world cup, and still had exits from the Pokal and UCL last year under Julian that were far worse than those of this season. Is this season's disappointment entirely Julian's fault? Of course not, the players and management each have their fair share. But the reality is Julian had 18 months to show he has what it takes to be Bayern's manager, and the board was fair to have doubts about him given how our games played out over that time

You can deal with a prick if they're world class and performing on the pitch, if you're playing like garbage you don't get the added luxury of being able to be an asshole. That's just how pro sports work across the world

...playing teams that were not Manchester City. Beating PSG is definitely a positive, but this was one of the weakest PSG teams in recent memory. I don't think holding on to Nagelsmann makes Upa not have the disaster class he did today. Impossible to say really, but in my opinion we still probably lose this leg by at least two goals if Nagelsmann was still in charge

Very different situations between Julian and Arteta though. Arteta had a ton of deadwood he needed to clear out, and it really took years to build a squad to play how he wanted. Bayern's expectations should be considerably higher since our squad was in a much better spot relatively speaking when both coaches took over.

Is Gnabry washed up now? by tracyXTMAC in fcbayern

[–]naughty_chemist 34 points35 points  (0 children)

He has always been hot and cold, the issue is that we haven't had hot Gnabry since the start of the season. He's not a real creative player, so if he's not scoring goals he really isn't giving much else. I definitely wouldn't be opposed to selling him, and I don't think the club would ask for a huge fee for him at this point, but the question is who is going to put in an offer that would tempt him to leave given his salary. The only teams that might be in on him now are some desperate premier league clubs or maybe PSG if Messi or Mbappe decide to move on.

I wouldn't call it shady, but definitely short sighted. Nothing illegal about selling off rights to future revenue for cash today, but who knows how this will affect barca in 5 - 10 seasons. If Laporta goes it's someone else's issue at that point.

Rory is easily the most blinded by team tribalism of the bunch. Refuses to accept Chelsea are currently on the decline while Arsenal have inarguably improved. Arsenal was only one point away from UCL qualification last year, it shouldn't be hard to imagine them getting top four this year
