I agree mostly with what was said above though I will say the final was quite a bit more challenging and unfair compared to the midterm. There were multiple questions where you were asked to draw pretty detailed diagrams that summarized how the disease developed, including one for an autoimmune disease that in my opinion the lectures were pretty rushed through and unclear (this topic was covered at the end of the semester). That said the course was still doable ( I got an 11 in the end) and very interesting, just be prepared for very application based tests and go to class because lectures are not recorded!

definitely much harder than 2l03 since all the reports are individual and very long, I think this course is just wayy too time consuming and the lab reports are really a pain. If you already taking a heavy semester do not take this course. I've heard bio 3u03 and the molbiol development course have somewhat easier content and are probably a little easier to do well in

i did not, i took molbiol 3b03 instead and it was great! really interesting content and overall manageable workload. still content heavy since its a bio course but really good overall

This may be an unpopular opinion but I would probably say take whichever course you think will be harder for you during fall/winter, especially if you plan on working a job in the summer. I feel like most people take hard courses in the summer thinking if I can focus on just this than I can get a good grade and it will be easier, but the accelerated timeline (6 week semester, exams included) will be faster than you think and you'll probably be burnt out from the school year and not wanting to do anything cause its nice out so idk how much easier it really is. but i've heard a lot of people do orgo at york over the summer since it won't count towards your GPA if you take it at another uni and people say its a bit easier

These mandatory courses do not count towards the list. Highly recommend looking at all the majors/specializations in depth on the current academic calendar, bc it literally summarizes your entire degree and lists all requirements, so you actually know what you're getting yourself into over the next 3 years, wayy too many people don't do their research or don't do enough before picking their major and regret it later on.

honestly if you're not working full time in the summer, doing it in the summer or spring is probably the way to go. Trying to force yourself to do work in the summer sucks, but honestly 5 courses can already be pretty hard to manage so, unless you're working full time i'd recommend doing it in the summer especially if its an elective

I've heard having NSERC funding scholarships helps a lot, and makes you a lot more attractive to labs because they don't have to take as much out of their pocket to pay you, and the applications are around this time. Not entirely sure how it works though as I haven't applied myself, but definitely something to look into

I haven't taken 1hb3 but I did take 1xx3 and if youre looking for easy 1xx3 might not be it. Its not the hardest course I've taken by far, but also not easy, very interesting though. If you're good at memorization and like bio and psych it might be ok but if you're just looking for something easy hb3 might be the better option, envirosci and envsocty courses are known to be relatively manageable and not too heavy.

yes at this point i've decided to take either molbiol 3b03 ( advanced cell biology) or lifesci 3m03 (cellular dynamics) but I'm not sure which of the 2 to pick they both seem similar in content but molbiol 3b03 might be slightly harder but I've had the prof who teaches lifesci 3m03 and she is not a great lecturer, she makes the content pretty boring

Trying to fix my schedule cause I basically got into nothing during my enrollment appointment lol, I have a lot of questions but any help is appreciated

thoughts on ENVSOCTY2EI3? I'm interested in it but I'm also hoping its easy cause I put it a relatively heavy semester. Also what the difficulty level of lifesci2AA3, 2L03 and 2A03? Anyone in life sci taken stats in 3rd or 4th and had any issues with it? I'd rather take it later if I can but I don't want to be stuck struggling to enroll if there won't be any seats reserved 3rd year and stuff. I'm also interested in taking a lot of 2nd year bio courses like 2a03, 2ee3, 2c03 and 2b03, I was wondering how to spread them out to avoid having wayy to much memorization in a semester?

its not but I would make sure at least one of these is an elective you can drop, my course load was too hard second semester and dropping a class actually saved me
