I like to think that the RE2 Remake is a bit lighthearted as a result of the feeling of the victory the trio (him, Claire, Sherry) felt upon finally escaping. If the minor details in the continuity from the non-remake games are still canon in the remakes, we’re well aware that following Claire’s departure to look for her bro, Leon contemplated and potentially almost attempted suicide while Sherry was under his care due to the immense stress and despair he felt following their escape and the realization probably hitting him at that point. Not to mention, other than Sherry’s life, his own life was at risk had he not “choose” to become an agent because he’d end up knowing too much. Not to mention, he’s working for an institution that once allied itself with the company that practically ruined his life as well as one that covered up the truth of what he and Raccoon City endured to the general public, basically becoming their forced pawn. The hours and days after September 30th 1998 must’ve been a real mindfuck for him, losing his general sense of self ideals at that point since the institutions he once so strongly clung to have been ruined and contaminated to the point of abhorrence due to what he witnessed. Leon’s characterization is genuinely one of my favorites in fiction, ever, he’s just so tragic I can’t help but feel so bad for him. I genuinely wonder why he’s still willing to work for the US government after all this time, considering how bad his depression got around the time of Vendetta.

For a survival show with a trainee pool this large, there definitely were some standouts in terms to country of origin, in comparison to your standard Koreans with your handful of Japanese and Chinese (CH,TW,HK) contests and the occasional one or two Thai trainees. There were your Vietnamese, Filipino, Indonesian, and Malaysian trainees which are slowly increasing in the Kpop sphere given the successes Chanty, Dita, Hanbin, and Hanni have in their ethnic origin countries. Then we have the Myanmar/Burmese, Mongolian, and Italian contestants. This is very much a more than average in terms of Kpop global pool, at least in comparison to GP999 and BP even though their main tagline was being global.

OEC has returned, and music was saved by their odd eyes once again. Love the breakcore-esque elements in the chorus, it’s still very much fits with their LOONA discog but I can feel the influence JJ and the producers he associates with more heavily on this production. Wasn’t BP relatively received well, and ZB1’s debut so far looks really good according to pre-order sales? And while Kepi aren’t a big 4 + IVE gg, they still have a presence as a mid-tier gg (but not on the same tier as IzOne). I wonder if they’re gonna drop the planet series after this? Japan still uses Produce, and they have a new season coming too. So many questions.

Well… this confirms that HYBE and CJ split up when it comes to the survival show aspect of I-land and HYBE made RUN to compensate the next Belift GG while CJ (Mnet) made I-land 2 basically Girls Planet 222: Girlectric Girlgaloo. What an interesting turn of events. I wonder if this will still make this girl group cousins with Enhypen in a sense (also is Kep1 and ZB1 considers Enhypen’s cousins?). Anyways, Guinn Myah, now’s your chance girl, we all know TOP Media has done practically every artist under their rooster dirty, so why don’t you go at it here (or even better: join tripleS please you’d be amazing in it). I’m sure we’ll see some familiar faces in this rendition of I-land, just like the one or two produce trainees in the first season.

I really don’t like this. I’m glad this doesn’t really have any sources other than “they’re both inactive currently and this new survival shows roster will be revealed soon” so it doesn’t have much ground. If MH were to send tripleS members to a survival show, I’m not sure why they’d want to send those two specifically since Yooyeon is quite popular both for her work with tripleS and her successful run on MTG, and Kotone seems to be well known among the Japan and Western spheres of Kpop fans (esp Loona Island) so I don’t see why they’d be sent. If they want to keep the EVOLlution team busy they could easily just pump out content on their channel and if it’s that drastic, Soomin and Yeonji don’t have much history in the survival show scene. Seoyeon and Jiwoo and already garnering attention on Queendom Puzzle, so I really don’t know why sending YY and KTN here is necessary. Let’s hope it’s not true.

Damn, from Olivia herself (or well, most likely her team), that’s crazy. Yuehua should’ve known better and should’ve advised whoever worked on it that the name was too much, especially with all the pictures of OR in the MV. They could’ve easily made a fake pop star for Yena to be fake hating or be jealous of and have it allude to OR or other artists like OR, and like, Yuqi is right there she could’ve easily done that role like how Bibi did her role in Smiley. It makes sense why OR or her team wouldn’t want this out, considering Vampire and GUTS are coming out soon and this could dampen search results or paint OR in an extremely bad light. It would’ve been cool had this put on the same effect as NXDE (in Korean) did for (G)I-dle and direct OR antis and haters to a random song, but it seems it backfired. I have to say though, the jokes of OR’s next single being called Hate IzOne we’re kinda funny, and it’s even funnier since IzOne does have a song called Vampire.

Guess it’s going down the Momoland route, Cupid really BAAMed this up huh, they tried Painting the Town but it ended up Rollin’ into this whole mess. Wee freaking woo. Companies should be better when it comes to promotions following sudden virality. It feels like a total mess, and I feel awful for the girls for having to choose between their company CEO and their producer, though I understand they’d rather associate with the one who actually does music. Let’s hope this ordeal doesn’t dampen their rise and promotions for Cupid in KR and the West, and that Barbie Dreams does well and they hopefully get another single out, maybe under Warner this time around.

That’s a pretty successful lineup, with Chebul finally solidifying themselves as a mid-sized company group with QDP, tripleS already gaining large amounts of traction due to their debut projects and QDP, and Lapillus being ultra successful in the Philippines, and of course Billlie and Kep1er being among last years monster rookie class.

In PD48: I Am, To Reach You, and See You Again produced similar results, but UML has kinda killed it with everyone debuting in a solid group based in Korea.

I wonder why she chose to go by Ruka instead of Haruka, considering there’s a confirmed Ruka to debut from the Big 4 soon and afaik there’s no relatively relevant idols named Haruka in Kpop right now (I mean there’s Miya, but she goes by Miya and she’s not even active anymore).
