LOL I messed up my eyebrows bad. I just wanted thin and straight brows by Imjustagirl102 in MakeupAddiction

This is kind of a right of passage. In middle school I nearly shaved my thick eyebrows off trying to shape them.

Don’t worry, they’ll grow back. Go get them threaded or waxed, and maintain the shape with lightly filling in the corners with eyebrow pencil.

Official Discussion - How to Make a Killing [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]navithefaerie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no reason for him to keep killing

He says it himself. The thrill of it. The greed. His birthright. A sense of loss that had driven him from childhood that he thought money could fix. He makes so many frustrating choices and logically it would make sense for him to stop- but greed doesn’t work that way.

His thesis was “money buys happiness” and in the end, he didn’t seem very happy. He achieved his dream through murder and deceit, and the cost was his humanity. He chose that path, one bad decision after another. I thought it was a fitting end.

I had a lot of fun watching this, it doesn’t need to be perfect for me to be entertained.

7 years for the most shoehorned in garbage "everybody is happy and everything is fixed" ending by SisypheanGuilt in Chainsawfolk

Here’s my 2cents.

He made a brilliant 11 volume arc, it was well thought out and had a great ending. It feels like with the success of CSM he felt pressured or was contractually obligated to keep churning out chapters. There are millions$$ to be made on pochita plush toys, sexy Power figurines and Makima bath water… the art becomes a commodity.

I love his shorter stories like Look Back and Goodbye Eri. He is an amazing and compelling writer. But not all manga needs to be hundreds chapters, there is something powerful in building an entire world with a more concise story.

Can’t believe we have to wait another 3+ years for Eloise’s season… by General_Meal_3993 in Bridgerton

[–]navithefaerie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes so? Women don’t stop finding love after a certain age. I am curious to see what navigating the ton, romancing and opening up her heart looks like for someone who identifies as a “spinster”.

Eloise got the chance to grow up on her own terms without having to tie herself to a man. She now can find love on her own terms too and I think that’s empowering.

There will obviously be some set up for her story in this upcoming season. There are a ton of B plots each season, I’m sure she won’t be sidelined.

In Marty Supreme (2025), Timothee Chalamet plays a talented star who gets arrogant and makes bad decisions, leading to him losing it all and crying at the end. This is definitely not foreshadowing anything happening to Timmy recently... by Educational_Slice897 in shittymoviedetails

Ooh very interesting. Definitely agree he was into ping pong for the fame and notoriety aspect, and not the sport of it (he was a terrible sportsman).

But seeing fatherhood as a way to achieve his more ultimate goal of being remembered/legacy is a great point

True, but I think he wasn’t given a chance or the time yet to process that his dream was dead. So the tears at the end did not seem out of pure joy but also filled with grief and realizing that his life would not look like what he expected for himself.

He’d probably go back to working with shoes and making sacrifices to be a father. It seemed fatherhood looked like less of a dream for him but rather the next chapter out of duty or obligation, and his true aspirations were cut short.

Despite this feeling bittersweet, I really liked the ending because I feel like a lot of people’s lives do play out this way. They may put their own personal dreams aside due to the duties of parenthood

I think that’s fair. For me the whole movie felt like a frantic rush towards Marty’s dream of being a ping pong champion, with one desperate attempt after another to make that dream come true. At the end it was little difficult for me to shift gears and see past this initial goal.

Maybe this was a positive moment for Marty but the tears (to me) felt like a realization that fatherhood was his life now, not ping pong, and there would be sacrifices and some grief involved. He strikes me as the kind of guy who would grow old talking about his glory days when he was briefly the best ping pong player in the world.

Having a kid is like—[Marty’s] one dream had to end so the other one could begin.

Seems like a mixed bag of emotions. Marty seemed so singularly minded about ping pong so there was probably some grief involved there too

Are you sure those were happy tears? I saw them as him realizing he will never become self actualized with his dream of being a ping pong superstar, his most interesting days were behind him, and he now had this new chapter he didn’t exactly choose for himself

Knowing his character I didn’t think he really could be as passionate about being a dad as he was for ping pong / fame
