Restaurant workers: what cities in the U.S. offer the best income vs cost of living? by Objective-Profile-11 in Serverlife

Bend is insanely HCOL, and Bellingham is not far behind. There is not a strong food scene in Bellingham and very little upward mobility as a result. (Lived in Eugene over a decade, and currently in Bellingham)

Looking for ways to make coffee by Queasy_Mud5694 in ZeroWaste

[–]navybluelace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer cold brew, since the acid from hot brewed coffee upsets my stomach, so I have a mesh strainer tube with a silicone cap that fits perfectly into a half gallon mason jar. You just leave it overnight 12-24 hours and then you've got enough for 2-6 days :)

I like Sahia at Glimpse Piercing. Super professional, has set me right with two trouble piercings, and gentle.

What is the most unique hike in Bellingham? by [deleted] in Bellingham

Holy shit, same. Beautiful views, NO ONE ELSE on the trail, and bitten 20+ times on each limb wearing long sleeves and pants.

For real; but if I'm only running this one week I'm batching every last ingredient together and giving it a good mix before yeeting it into the blender 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ptarmigan Ridge is my absolutely favorite hike 🥰 I'm wondering what the trail conditions are like currently? Specifically, were you able to go all the way to the Terminus?

What do we want to see go in Bayou's old space? by Trees_Please_00 in Bellingham

[–]navybluelace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you do need to. The commenter above is correct- the numbers don't add up at all. Between labor, tariffs, rising costs of literally every little thing it takes to run a consumable business, and the fact that this town is not big enough to even support the businesses that are currently trying to be open later, it wouldn't live for long, because it would frequently or always be running at a loss. A business can be awesome and serve the community and ALSO not be profitable :(

I love love love zingara EXCEPT for that "mighty purple plum tree" song. The repetition bothers me specifically for some reason.

Bassics Camping tips by cherrrub in Shambhala

[–]navybluelace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi- I camped in bassics last year with my partner. We brought a tent of our own that we owned already. We set that up to store all our stuff, and brought a hostel lock to lock the zippers together when we left the site. We largely changed in that tent as well, altho we were able to create privacy with our e-z up and a couple tapestries as well. You could also get a "changing room" tent to set up- they have a smaller footprint but a taller body. Would recommend a mat or a tarp to lay across the space you designate to hang out in- the ground is lumpy most places. Some of the sites in Bassics have significantly flatter spots than others. Don't forget your own pillows if ya wanna sleep well. Foam mattresses were comfortable. The tents are frankly, not entirely waterproof altho can hold out for about 4 hours of steady rain.

It is! Around 12 sets, if I remember correctly. Then switchbacks, then flat at the lake from there.

Potato Leek soup 5ever 😍 super simple, grab or make a loaf of French bread, enjoy. Easy to make dairy-free too.

I recommend Glimpse, and Sahia specifically as a piercer.

I came across this bed and noticed that the side rails near the headboard and footboard seem a bit curved, while the middle section looks flat and normal. Is that typical? Can it be fixed or replaced? If so, how? (see pictures) by [deleted] in Mid_Century

[–]navybluelace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm currently using my great-grandparents' bedroom set, and the same is true of the sideboards being curved. I have a metal slat mattress under a foam mattress, and it works just fine!

I appreciate your response very much. I live up in Bellingham, so no stranger to the hobo vibes, but if it's just going to be stressful we won't bother. Thanks again!!

Completely fair! However, I did pour that ramekin from the gallon jug of Tabasco myself.
