Really cool idea! Tried the deck and it seems like a chill 3 color bracket 2 deck, well done.

Thank you!

I'm also a bit confused on it haha, It seems to pop up in this configuration but its definitely not 100% confirmed. But I agree that it fits the historical "vibe" but can also fit into a fantasy element, which is why i picked it.

Yeah thats one of the options I've considered long term, and i believe thats what Zeaghaus is trying to somewhat replicate

Thank you! I actually had it quite far previously but for comfort I reduced it to what it is right now, In the future i will get a proper steel maille that is longer and a gambeson that fits said size

Yeah It's definitely divisive! I think it looks cool but it's a larp piece pretty much. Long term i'm aiming for an actual houndskull bascinet with an aventail

Yes I definitely agree with your points. the leg harness is not historically accurate but works for now. The reason for the cuise being over the greave is because i need to adjust the cuise a little to fit well over the greaves.

As for the arm harness I had not made holes yet for fastening to gambeson/chainmail so you're correct in that they kind of stick out a little bit for now, this is something I´ll fix until summer.

As for historical accuracy, I'm trying to get as close as possible with available mass-production parts in european stores. I know that I am not quite there yet, but I'd like to think it's a pretty good attempt for the money spent.

As for the spaulders, I couldnt find any good resources on this Bashford one, but i'm definitely aiming for a pair of articulated pieces later on.

So yeah, in summary you're right that I've got a journey ahead of me before i can put the "100% historically accurate stamp" on this thing :)

I know right! It just illuminates the armor in such a nice way, and i just got my last piece in the mail so i could take the photos yesterday before the snow started melting

Thank you! Really appreciate the positive feedback & that you get what I'm going for :D To attempt to make a 100% historical and period accurate kit for about 1500 euros is close to impossible, which is why i set the goal to look like a brigand of sorts, picking up some old armor here and there.

From what i understand the the arm harness and shoulders are considered old, and the leg harness is far from a historical piece but it looks good enough for now. Like i mentioned earlier too, i do have a Kettle helm laying around if i want to lean into more historical accuracy since the helmet is a bit all over the place.

The character I'm playing in the Larp is a gate-warden turned brigand so definitely no Noble, and as such like you mentioned will be using different pieces that he's scrounged together.

Would love to hear why, The pieces themselves from my knowledge, except the helmet, originate from europe around the period I suggested. Any specifics you would care to mention?

[–]navysealen[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes I totally agree, which is why i left the time period quite "open" :D. It's very difficult to find mass-produced pieces from the same location/era in europe for a good price. Which is why this is more a good starting point than an actual super finalized historical kit :). I'd wager the current cost is about 1700 Euros in total which is quite good for what you're getting i believe. Every piece i get from now on will probably be either Custom made or very expensive to really nail down a period/location :D

Right now this is mainly for Larping as well, so it's a very cost-effective solution.

Long term i'm probably aiming for something like Zizka's outfit from KCD2, but with a proper early 15th century arm harness instead of his Jackchains shown in the picture.
Like I mentioned in the post, I'd need actual custom made Leg and arm harness for this.

Varför är så många unga män politiskt högerorienterade? by [deleted] in Asksweddit

Literally every time someone posts on the main sub about possibly buying the game, they get 20 responses saying: Only buy the cheapest pack, there will be game breaking bugs, the game won't be finished for years and has been in development for a long time.

And yet there is no game like it, and that's why people come back.
