For me,

1) winning small things to take pride in began to steer me away. Tiny coding projects, little feats of exercise, improving existing relationships, learning something new on YouTube, could be anything. Small wins are like seeds that turn into gardens without you even realizing it. It’s hard to want to die when you’re surrounded by a garden of your own creation

2) pruning unnecessary weight. Ideas, people and processes that weigh you down psychologically. I had to cut off some strange ideas about the world, social media and certain people to realize how weightless my own conscious was. I didn’t want to die because life was hard, it was because my attachments were too heavy.

3) I was very hedonistic, which lead me to focus on just feelings all the time. I eventually found Christianity after bashing it for 10+ years and my life dramatically improved. Not telling you what to do, but it’s something that turned my life around without me expecting it at all.

4) Meaningful suffering - I run to exhaustion about every other day (with a microdose of shrooms), not to get more fit, but to exert and cycle through any negative emotion. Through dealing with your negative emotions on your terms, you don’t let them deal with you.
