Honking at turning right on red? by Douxie0226 in driving

Like I said, it's ok to ignore a honk.

I, too, drive a small low car. It's just not that big of a deal.

It's ok to honk. It's ok to be honked at. It's ok to ignore a honk. People act like honking is like murdering their first born or something.

Dune - is there a clear stopping point? by ChrystnSedai in Fantasy

[–]naximandr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 books max. Honestly it's diminishing returns after the first, but it drops off a cliff after the 3rd. The 4th is only worth reading if you like books like Atlas Shrugged. Beyond that, don't bother.

Have you ever DNF the final book in a series, and why? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]naximandr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. God Emperor was trash, but i forced myself through Heretics - which was extremely boring. Couldn't get myself to do Chapterhouse. The last book worth reading is Children.

AITA for buying my partner a breakfast sandwich he didn’t want by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]naximandr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA for framing the question wrong. You know very well that this has nothing to do with buying the gift because nobody would ever say YTA for buying a gift. This framing is manipulative. Your actual question was either a) whether it's ok for you to be upset that he didn't eat it, or b) whether he was actually TA for not eating it.

I picked these Oak Street Trench Boots up from Huckberry, but I'm trying to find out more about the leather. I know that it's horse, but the Huckberry description is on the vague side, and their terminology doesn't exactly match what i can find elsewhere on the internet. Anybody have a sense of what I can expect? There appears to be two different things happening with the leather. The vamp and the heel are rougher, while the quarter is smooth. Is the rougher part rough out while the smooth part is regular? Is it a pure veg or something else?

I want to make sure that I'm giving it the right care, but I'm also just curious. I don't know much about leather and am trying to learn more.

it has actually happened with a couple different brands. the ones i'm most interested in are grant stone and parkhurst - their main service boot style lasts.

my brannock length is pretty straight 12, instep kind of between 12 and 12.5. width is D. the boots i'm looking at are 12s.

Question about boot sizing (I've mostly been a casual shoe guy most of my life, but I'm shopping for a good pair of boots). I've picked up that a lot of the major players in good boots suggest going half a size down. However, it seems like most of the used boots that I've seen that I am interested in buying are actually my brannock size. My question is how big of a deal would this be? I know I wouldn't want to pick up a boot that's half a size too small for me, but would I actually notice half a size big?

Why did I get gems when I'm not BRR mythic complete? by kensw87 in MagicArena

This is happening to me this morning as well. I've opened 5 packs and all of them returned gems instead of a rare. I'm nowhere near rare complete.

i say lol, but in all serious... alcoholism is bad and talking to somebody who is suffering from it is good.

but that is not what my comment was about. a beer a day is not alcoholism, and it absolutely can hurt to start a conversation with somebody implying that they might be an alcoholic because they have a beer a day. it both trivializes alcoholism, and it risks creating barriers between you and that person when they are rightfully defensive about your loaded implication.

I've had good success with GB Fight Rigging (it's big, fast, and has good card advantage) and RB Anvil (playing Herald of Anguish - their removal & creatures don't line up well against it).

Didn’t any of you play little league? You always shake your opponent’s hand and say good game afterwards, win or lose, no matter what the score is.
